Stuart BDunfermline,
I've used the Test ball for 3 rounds now and I have been very impressed with the improvements. Durability is a lot better since I have had 3 rounds from 2 balls and this is usually unheard of for me due to groove damage from oil can Vokeys!
I have played the links courses around the East Neuk of Fife recently with a fair bit of breeze and I found the new ball performed very well in the wind. Much more stable than previous models with playing into winds from the left or right allowing me to take more direct lines into targets be it from tee or on approach to greens. The dispersion on mishits seemed a lot tighter as well, or maybe I was swinging better than normal!)
The control (drop/stop) from wedges and shorter irons was up to the usual expectations of a ProV1/x range. The ball felt slightly firmer so it was re-assuring to have a solid feel off the face but be confident the ball would perform when landing on the green. Short game shots around the greens are a joy due to the soft feel of the cover and amount of spin and control that the ball responds to. This increases confidence in the vital scoring zones.
Fortunately the superb condition of Crail Golfing Societies Balcomie Links allowed me to get a good experience of the Test ball on excellent surfaces in November. The ball feels soft off the face as expected allowing excellent feel on the greens.
Another evolution of the premium Titleist range that will further enhance the brand reputation.
Thank you for the opportunity

Only used the ball for one round. Quite liked it. Thought it was soft, although not as soft as Pro V1, but softer than the ball I use which is the NXT Tour S. Greens were soft and thought the ball required to be hit a little harder. Admittedly this may have been psychological. In my opinion the ball marked more than my NXTs ha! I prefer NXT balls which are probably more in keeping with my game. I definitely get more distance with NXT. However, I would have liked to test the ball in summer on slick links course!

I was sent three of the new test balls to try out.
I found the performance of these balls awesome, the feel and spin around the greens was awesome and they go as long as ever off the tee.
I thought that the cover held up well and was unmarked havinh used the ball for 36 holes, it still had plenty of life left in it.
As always an awesome ball by Titleist and thanks for letting me try them.
By far and away the #1 ball in golf and I will continue to use them
Thanks

First I like to say thanks for sending me the test balls.
I have played about a dozen rounds with them and found them excellent , compared to my pro v 1 they are similar in most areas but i think they are a little better from 100 yards in (more spin but this could a change in course conditions )
My pro tells me pro v 1 is the wrong ball for me but i cannot agree .
thanks again .

Please leave your feedback in this discussion post. Thanks for the Test Balls Whilst playing under winter rules, the test ball travelled a similar distance to a Pro V1 it had a good feel around the green, but can't really comment on its stopping characteristics due to very soft greens Overall a very good ball which I would certainly consider if it were to go on sale Dave C

Please leave your feedback in this discussion post. Afternoon All, Tried out the sample balls at the weekend in the wind on Fri and on the Sat which was very calm for a change.Found into the wind they didnt seem to baloon so much as the Pro v1 s ive been using lately which i liked a lot. With the wind a nice carry and even with the mid irons still stopped quite sharply. On the Sat with hardly any wind, definitely longer carry with my driver not a lot but did seem to get more roll which i now need. Not so much spin i thought with the wedges but still stopped very nicely.Overall i think a slightly better ball for me.Yet again another winner Titleist.Hopefully they will be in the shops soon.I want some.Ive left 1 ball to use,can i use it in my next comp at my club or are they not allowed yet. Having trialled the new prototype ball over a couple of weekends I can report that I found the ball better to play that the pro v1. It felt softer around the green for both chipping and putting and performed very well from tee to green with a penetrating ball flight. I have tried the NXT S previously and this ball knocks spots off of that. So, all in all I have been happy to stick with the pro v1, but this new ball - unless a complete placebo effect has been applied - would be my choice.

Thank. For the three test balls I thoroughly enjoyed using them the only critism is that they felt slightly hard when putting.

Super feel and sound off the club face. Either I'm improving, which is doubtful, or this ball has an improved boring trajectory in the wind!

I have had two games with the test ball. Had gross 79 and 82, against a par 70. I am a 15 handicap 72 year old golfer. Although played from forward tees. The shorter distance was cancelled by not so much run on the ball due to winter conditions. The ball is superb. Please tell the commercial name when it is released. I still have all three no loses.

I recently used the test ball in two rounds at my golf club (South Winchester). Apart from the fact I shot 79, 78. I was very impressed with the quality of the ball. It felt good off the club face and whilst I felt I lost distance with the driver it certainly faired well into wind in wet conditions. It was very easy to control spin on the greens and I felt very confident around the greens that I could stop it quickly – I’d like to see how this was in the height of summer though. The ball held up well and didn’t appear to scuff which is huge if this is a high end ball. Pitching was easy and very accurate. It felt crisp and generated a lot of spin. I would seriously consider using this ball in the future. I generally play a pro V1x or the top end TM (which just don’t last) – I felt this was comparable to a Pro V1 but I did think I could spin this one more. The branding and alignment mark were as usual pretty good and I like the simple classy nature of this. The covering and colour were also great. I’d give this the thumbs up and I’m looking forward to finding out what they are. Thanks for the chance to try them out.

Hi,
Thanks for the opportunity to try out the new balls.
The balls seem to fly straight and true, much like the old model. Durability is again much improved, these balls are in great condition until you lose one, then I'm sure someone else can enjoy them.
Driver and iron shots are similar to the old model of ProV1. The ball seems a lot softer when putting though, took some getting used to on slow, wet UK greens.
great to play with though, as always from Titleist.

Thanks for sending the Prototype balls, I have used them over the past couple of weeks and found the ball feel’s firmer when chipping and putting also seemed to run out a lot more. It added about 5 yards in length off the driver and a difference in the sound from the driver was notable. The ball goes through the wind well and the ball fight was a little lower than I’m normally used to with the pro V1

Hi thank you for sending me the test balls out.
I thought they were very durable they didn't seam to scuff up as much from iron shots and when I sent one carrier in down a cart path I was surprised how it wasn't more scuffed.
I thought that they were a little more forgiving on my miss shots. I also fet that they carried a little further for me.
But what I was most pleased with was on the greens they seam to feel solid off the putter face and I felt like I got a really good roll, and off the driver my bad shots didn't seam to spin up as much, but when I striped one into the fairway it felt great off the club and instead of hitting a 6 iron into the green I was able to pull out my 7 iron.
Generally I liked the feel of them off the club not too hard and not too soft, just right. Coupled with the durability and how they feel off the club, I eagerly await the launch of them, I will be purchasing 2 dozen straight away.

I have tried both the red and black test balls and here is what I found:
Black Number Test Ball
The sound and feel around the greens was very good and as I played round the course it also felt like it was going straighter and felt a bit more penetrating than the current Pro V1. So much so that if you asked me to use the current Pro V1 I would have stuck with the Test ball as it just felt a bit stronger in every way.
What did become noticeable from playing the ball was how durable the cover was. After two rounds it was still in good enough condition that I would have gone for a third medal round with it, whereas the current ball can usually manage one to one and a half rounds on a good ball striking day.
Red Number Test Ball
The Red Test ball felt and sounded a lot softer than the current Pro V1x when I was putting, so this may make it more attractive to some Pro V1 players. The Red Test ball also uses the same dimple pattern as before and the flight and durability were also very good.
I have also posted a full review with images on the Golfalot site
