I played the 2019 Proto x (red number). I felt it was a higher ball flight than usual and played it on a very windy day in OKlahoma and it seemed like it spun more than the 2017 pro v1x. I’m going to take it out again soon to get a bigger sample size.

Can you tell us when the new ball(s) will be available to purchase.
    Thanks,

Got mine and, after 4 rounds with the black, agree 100%. Tremendous ball with great flight and check into the greens. Distance seemed to be a bit longer off the tee and great on and around the greens. Keep up the innovation.
  5. Thanks, Abby. I was thrilled to receive my plain white box! I also tried the black 2019 Proto and loved it! I have been playing Titleist balls since 1959 and ProV1 since intro. I could not discern a lot of difference between the Proto and the ProV1 in my bag. However, in all aspects, the Proto seemed equal or better -- ball flight, distance, feel. I agree with you, the Proto seemed to go a little higher on most shots. I especially liked the sound and feel of the Proto coming off the putter. Thanks again, Abby and TT!

I haven’t received the new balls to date, but really look forward to trying them also. PS I still love the ProVs I’ve been playing.
  7. I absolutely love the 2019 Protos!! I shot a new low at my home course East Ridge Country Club in Shreveport, La (77)! Love the distance off the tee, fairway to green is awesome, and making those 30+ footers is always a plus! Thanks Titleist!!

Played the proto's last weekend, my standard ball is a Pro V1. The proto's have nice feel, same expected distance off the tee, and have a very controllable touch in and around the greens.

This is the first year in many that I didn’t receive balls to test. I have enjoyed reading other Team Titleist members posts as they share in the experience of finding that special white box in their mail. I look forward to seeing what the tour staff have to say as they put the new balls in play this week!

The Titleist ball will dominate the tour again next year as these new balls are incredible.
  13. Christmas came early when I received my white box in the mail. Mine were black numbered so I assume they were ProV1’s.
I had the opportunity to try the 2019’s on the last 80 degree day in Michigan a couple of weeks ago.
The ball had a nice soft feel coming off all clubs, flew high, straight and held greens well with short irons. However, I felt it was a little mushy off the putter.
Have yet to play on a cold day and am curious how it will play.
I chose what Titleist I will play by temperature. In early spring and cooler (cold) fall days I will play DT’s and as it warms I’ll switch to ProV1 and 1x when it’s hot. The AVX plays well for me in hot weather also.
Titleist is the only ball I play. Keep up the great work!
  14. I received a box of the red ones . For me high ball flight with longer carry than AvX that I have been using. I think it really depends on the course you’re playing. It had been quite wet at Lakeland’s (Queensland,Australia) the week before I trialled them . But as l said loved the carry and they felt and sounded great especially using Driver.

Yes, random testing but odds are better if you have a completed profile in the system. Even then, there are a lot more TT members than they have balls to test so don't be upset if you don't get them this time. Usually some testing done every year. Probably will see updated testing for Tour Soft or DT's next year. You can increase your odds by participating in Titleist sponsored events, tour the ball plant, or things like that.

Washington golfer here, an update on testing the Red Number Proto. Was in my mens club golf tourney and alternated each hole with the current ProV1x and Red Proto 2019 (until I cracked the ProV1x on the 6th hole) and have to say I wasn't sure at first but I think I will bag the new Red's when they come out next year. It was a fairly breezy day but had no issues with ball flight, pierced the wind when I needed it too and held greens all day. Still feels fairly the same off the tee, but with irons and wedges I was able to spin the ball back even when I had to flight my long irons. I drove the ball pretty solid and was able to either long iron or short wedge on in regulation for most of the day. On a par 3 about 186 yards I flighted my 4u nice an high to stop pin high but pushed it about 15' to the right, divot mark was 2 inches in front of my ball... Also of note shot my lowest round for the year and took 3rd in my flight using the combo ball set. So pretty pleased with the ball so far.

this new ball is far superior to the current ball. I am looking forward to the release of the prototype ball!!

The prototype ball was superior to the present ball. The performance of the prototype was outstanding and it has a more durable cover. Look forward to the release of the prototype ball.
  21. Thanks Team Titleist for the opportunity to try the prototype. Received my sleeve of Red #'s a couple of weeks ago and finally had the opportunity to compare them to my current ball, the Pro V1x. The prototype definitely feels hot off the driver. Trajectory is similar, maybe slightly lower with more roll-out. The ball just felt really solid. Well struck irons seemed to drop and stop on the greens. To me, spin was less on mid to short irons and that's OK with me. Off the putter, ball felt softer compared to Pro V1x. Anxious to try these some more!

I've put 45 holes on this 2019 Proto Pro V1x, 9 holes at Kiawah Island during the TT Invitational and now two rounds here in Texas. To be honest, I have not seen or felt much of a difference from the performance of my 2017 Pro V1x balls. The Prototype flies well and has good spin around the greens; putts fine and gives me good control (for me) for pitches and chips. Durability has been good and the cover has not greyed out much given the length of time I've played this specific ball. I intend to put the 2019 Proto Pro V1 in play again tomorrow and see how it fares.

I've put another 36 holes on each of the 2019 Proto Pro V1 and Pro V1x. The first Pro V1 I played (starting at Kiawah) did not make it through a full 18, but ended up in the pond next to the 18th green. I then put another Pro V1 and Pro V1x into play on alternate 9's for my next two rounds and finished up by playing the Pro V1x for another full 18 holes. Yes, they are durable.

    Observations:

Pro V1 -- flies higher; seemed to me to stop more quickly on the greens; putts well with typical Titleist Pro V feel. To me, the cover of the Pro V1 prototype discolored faster than the cover of the Pro Vx prototype, but both proved exceptionally durable.

Pro V1x -- better distance, even with lower flight characteristics; good bite, but not as much as the Pro V1 prototype unless the shots into the green dropped from a significantly high angle; no difference in feel on the greens compared to my current 2017 model Pro V1x balls.
