  1. I was finally able to take the new #2019proto black out for a round. The ball performed just as expected and helped me shoot one of my lowest scores of the year. I feel like there was some added forgiveness on mishits as the ball didn’t stray near as much as I’m used to.

  2. Hi Abby ! I took the 2019 proto type to the coast about a week ago and love it! It was very good off the tee and felt great off of the hybrids and my irons. Around the greens and approach shots it had plenty of spin and great touch while putting. very good golf ball! I only had a couple of problems, 1) It hid well in tall grass and 2) it didn't float very well! Hahaha Very good ball look forward to playing it next year! thanks for allowing me to test this item for you!

  3. I received the 2019 Proto test titlest golf ball a couple weeks ago. I took it to the course and was amazed. It was great off the tee and my hybrids and middle irons felt great and had plenty of distance. My approach shots had a lot of spin and great stopping power. Chip and pitch shots were excellent and with great feel. The ball allowed me to have very good touch and feel while putting. A very Good ball! I only had a couple of issues with it, 1) it hid well in tall grass and 2) it did float very well either Hahaha. All in all a great ball and I look forward to playing it next year!

Another quality golf ball from Titleist. Distance was great along with the feel. Nice, soft feel of all clubs yet it exploded of the driver. Wedge play and putter performance was great as well. I was able to stop the ball on the greens with a good amount of backspin. Feel from the putter was very good. I am ready for more of them.

I was amazed to see that I received a sleeve of the 2019 protos. Super excited about it. I even put one in with my collection of golf balls. I got the black number. Finally got a chance to use them as I've been pretty busy and also battling a wrist injury. I noticed that it flew a bit straighter with the driver, as mentioned in the original post, compared to my ProV1. Really liked the flight of it off driver. My iron game has just been off due to the wrist, so I haven't been able to give it a fair test just yet. I plan on getting back out there soon and use them some more. Haven't lost one yet, so that's a great sign lol. Very similar feel to my ProV1 while putting, which is in no way a negative. Great feel. Thank you Titleist for sending me out a sleeve! Once again, very amazed and excited to take part in testing.
  6. I took out the Proto 2019 this weekend.
The biggest observation was how well they stuck on the green for my approach shots. Great spin and stopped on a dime. Putting was also very soft feeling. I had great distance control when on the green.
As far as distance, I didn't notice any extended distance. I was about as long as normal; however, mis-hits seemed to be better controlled.
    Thanks for sending out Titleist..!!

Still too wet for me to play golf....but I did go and putt with a Pro V1 alongside a Proto and both felt almost the same. The Proto seemed a littler softer.
Hit about 30 balls each from about 18 ft. Oddly enough I made more putts with the Proto type on the practice green than the Pro V1.
I think the Proto's are an excellent ball...they roll well....feel great coming off the face of the putter.
I'll get back to you when it dries up and I am able to take them to the course. Again Thanks to the Titleist Marketing Department.

It's been cold here in VT, so limited testing of the #2019Proto so far!

    Putting
The ball rolled well and felt good at impact, in my case making a distinctive “click” when it was struck well.
Stay tuned for more as the temps hopefully allow for more testing!

Hard to distinguish conformation bias, but I'm certain I was sticking more greens on approaches and pitches with the black number (V) over the red number (X) and the 2017 V. It also rolled smoothly off the face. I'm hoping the optic V will be included if/when the loyalty offer comes again in March.

    Greetings Abby
I received my Prototype balls a couple of weeks ago, thank you, and they are great I am finding that off the tee I have be developing a beautiful draw and distance is good, and feels and sounds good off the Driver, my iron game has improved as I feel an extra confidence when striking the new ball, but where I am finding the wow factor is my short game, chipping pitching bunker shots amazing and my putting is improving probably because I am getting closer to the hole with less run. Over 2 rounds of stroke I reduced my score by 12 strokes and in 2 weeks playing the new balls I have taken 4 strokes off my handicap. I have played 5 rounds and the balls still look and feel good, and I am now exclusively playing the Pro V1 having just bought a box. I am looking forward to the release of the yellow ProV1 any news on their release, would love to trial those, once again thanks for the chance to try the new ball looking forward to buying a box.
    Happy Golfing
    Cheers Dave

Aloha! The Proto 2019 are awesome! The red number flights higher and longer that the black with my driver. Prefer the black around and on the green. Softer feel. Thank you for sending me the Proto. See you on Maui soon. www.mauischoolofogolf.com

Got my first opportunity to play them today. I got the red numbers, assuming they are ex's. Little longer than old model, spun about the same. Typical Titlest, great golf ball.

    Hi Abby,

I received a dozen of the Prototypes while attending the UK/Ireland TT Invitational in Scotland. I played them both last weekend at the Abu Dhabi National Golf Course. This is where they hold the HSBC on the European Tour every year and a magnificent track.

I played the Red protos on the front nine. Shot 37 and hit the ball wonderfully. From the Driver, hybrids, irons, and wedges I liked everything about them. Minimal spin off the driver and I was able to hold the green with ease with both a 7-iron and 6-iron on two approach shots.

I played the Black protos on the back nine. Shot 41 and obviously I did not hit the ball as well. I guess in short it just felt a little bit harder than the red one.

I would definitely put the Red protos in play today. They had everything in a ball that I am looking for and really enjoyed trying them out.

Thanks for the opportunity and good luck to all the testers out there.
  14. Got mine in the mail a few weeks back. Being in Iowa, have had a limited number of opportunities to try them out. Hit them against the TP5 & was amazed that they were going 5-10 yards further and had quite a bit more spin around the greens with the 8 iron through my wedges. Very pleased with what I saw.

Team Titleist is rocking out some great equipment and some extremely playable balls!! #proto2019

I finally had an opportunity to play this week. I alternated holes using the 2019 Proto (black) and compared it to the ProV1x I play.

Off the tee: I noticed that the 2019 Proto was a little harder feeling at impact then my ProV1x. The ball did go a little higher then my ProV1x, but the carry was a little longer. It’s been just a touch wet in Texas with all the rain, so not too much roll out.

Fairways with woods: Again, I noticed that the ball is a little harder feeling at impact, but in both instances when using fairway woods, the shots were high and carried well. In fact on a par 5 from the box, I played the 2019 Proto dead down the middle (305) with roll out. Then hit a 3 wood which carried 245 in the air with a high trajectory (which was not expected since I usually hit my woods more of a mid-height ball flight off the fairway) the ball ended up hitting the front of the green and then hopped off the back (these greens weren’t holding). Hit a soft chip with a 56 to within 2’ then made the putt. The ball spun well and came off the putter face with good feel. I think the harder feeling comes when you use driver or fairway woods. Wedges and putting feel about the same.

Irons from Fairways: Hitting Proto from the fairway with an 8 iron or Wedge, the ball checked up nicely. My normal ProV1x stops as well, but has a softer feel. Higher ball flight off the club but it felt like the ball would just go thru the wind regardless.

Short irons: I noticed that the Proto is easy to control distance wise and spin wise with either full or partial wedge shots from the fairway or rough. I used it on a par 3 playing about 132. The ball carried high and hopped once and stopped. Every wedge shot hit with the Proto ball checked well.

Putting: The ball doesn’t feel that different coming off the face.

Overall the first experience has been positive. I’m supposed to play again this Sunday so I’ll try and play the front 9 with the Proto and then the back with my ProV1x (hopefully I don’t lose any).

    Hey Titleist headquarters,

Pleasure to meet your acquaintance my name is Nicholas A. Villarreal, just recently I was sent the 2019 Titleist Prototypes & was told to test/compare them with the current pro V 1's/other brands of balls. Let me conclude that the prototypes were a heavier golf ball that would carry more distance, typically Pro V 1's continue to roll at a continuous rate, so swinging with English is an absolute must. Let me add that this prototype may be one of the best golf ball finishes of modern times. The professionals must be giving great feedback cause this is one heck of a golf ball.

    Sincerely,

    Nicholas A. Villarreal

I've got a lot of shop credit and need balls, but I don't want to buy 6 dozen this year if you're coming out with new balls in the spring.

The spider in my mailbox is getting lonely waiting on those prototypes. Guess you all have heard how badly I'm playing. =)
