I'll get to play for probably another month and a half, unless the snow starts flying sooner. Usually when that happens I'll hit up the simulator once or twice month, but mainly focus on beating balls into the net all winter long. I have a small 8' putting mat that gets rolled out as well so that I can practice blowing my ball 6' past the hole more consistently.

Fall golf in Eastern PA is great! Temperature is perfect, air is crisp. Once the actual winter hits in January, it's time for indoor putting and swing trainers.

Extremely envious of the guys that are able to go along without too many changes. For myself, I become a weekend golfer and if I am lucky get to head along to the simulator at my club or if I am less lucky, the outdoor range. During the spring/summer I am able to get out a lot during the week with the long nights that we have. We can easily play until 10pm, if not later, during June and July.

Come winter, actually playing and hitting balls on the range becomes interesting just as a result of the number of layers are needed. Obviously, layering is much better than it used to be but even now, when it comes to needing 4 layers it is a question of whether it is worth it to head out.

During the winter months I play more golf and spend more time practicing. Because I’m in Florida, the “winter” weather is great and I find myself spending loads more time on my game. This is usually when I start seeing a drop in my index. The summer heat and humidity take a toll on my game because it’s difficult to focus and play to my highest potential when you’re sweating and on the verge of heat stroke. But now is the time to thrive and enjoy the whole reason why I live in Florida!

Good thing about being in NC, Year round golf! We may miss a couple weeks in a row with cold and nasty weather then boom its 70 degrees out and sunny.
  6. I prefer cooler weather it gets hot in NC

I actually prefer winter golf, easy now in SC, learned in FL as a kid to play. I will travel but when I lived in PA, CA and Colorado we continued to play in wind rain and with some snow, but not in the snow. Obviously the ball goes less far in most weather, I carry a hand-held GPS and measure every full shot. It becomes very easy to gauge how far the ball is going.

    Keep on playing!

I still try to get out three times a week even though it is colder, we just bundle up and play.

In Pennsylvania I just add layers. I play year round, one group stops when it gets cold so I reconnected with some old friends to play with in the winter.

In NH we benefit from foliage and cool weather which does change club selection. Pollen still bad for awhile. Our course closes mid November and I head to FL.

I honestly love Florida, except for hurricanes (dodged a few bullets this year), and golf from July-October. But it beats my old neighborhood in Westchester County, New York. As far as the game, I do see the difference in flight in the highest humidity months, but the love of the game and the pool at home ease the pain. On a traveling note, headed to French Lick shortly, been there before, ready to have some fun. Been windy lately, one of our guys was just there for Korn Ferry event, said it was brutal. Missed his PGA Tour card by 2.

work on ball striking efficiency so as to hit more greens and ultimately lower handicap through winter lessons, will utilize a gym this winter as well to build up some flexibility and strength as well and hopefully recover faster because I will play more in season next year (aiming for 150 rounds)

    Excellent question

Sad time of the year for golfers here in the North east
  15. Mine improves because we get relief from the heat

Being in the Midwest we will play if the temperature is above 40°. Key is to dress in layers and take more club. Standing on the first tee and realizing that you need to lower your expectations and just be thankful that you are able to play is really important too. Fall/Winter/Spring also bring in the challenges of lost balls due to leaves so following your shot all the way until it stops rolling is important.

I live in Miami, Florida, so the weather doesn't change all that much.

During the heat and high humidity of summer, (most of the year), I feel like the heat helps my back loosen up more quickly. Unfortunately, a side effect of some medications I take is poor heat tolerance, so I usually play just 9 holes at a time.

When the humidity lowers in October, usually through about February, I get to enjoy playing 18 holes much more often.

During the cooler months, I enjoy something sort of unrelated, unless you consider Sundays at the Old Course. I take my 2 little dogs to the course with me. Strapped into the cart so they can't move or hurt themselves, they love to be out there with me and I love having them there too.
