  1. OK, just finished 18 holes with this ball and I hope Titleist brings this ball to market. It was fantastic. I’ll start with feel. It’s was soft but not mushy at all. I’d say it compares to the AVX but better.

Driver: Just as long as the AVX but with a higher ball flight. I would say the ball flight was right in line with the Pro v1. Definitely low spin. The ball just wants to go straight.

Fairway wood and hybrid: again just as long as the AVX but with a higher ball flight. Almost identical trajectory to the Pro v1.

Irons: distance was right in line with the AVX. Ball flight maybe a touch higher but not much. The feel off of the irons was amazing and the spin was the perfect amount for me.

Wedges: the ball really shines here. Executional feel with noticeably more spin that the AVX. I would say not as much as the Pro v1 but pretty darn close.

Putter: fantastic feel. It reminded me of the Titleist Professional from years ago.

Bottom line: Try this ball! It also had great durability as well. I will be buying more to stock up. This is my new gamer. It knocked the AVX out of the bag.

  2. The new Titleist EXP•01 golf ball is an experimental multilayer construction utilizing a new high performance urethane cover formulation and process, according to the company. The R&D process for EXP•01 continues starting today when a one-time, limited run will be made available until supplies last. EXP•01 is being released as part of the Titleist EXP Project, a new and ongoing initiative created to provide golfers the opportunity to experience new golf ball technologies still in the experimental phase. The Titleist R&D and Golf Ball Product Management teams will be actively seeking performance feedback from golfers who play the EXP•01 during its availability. Cost is about $40 a dozen and is available on My Titleist at Titleist.com

I do not have many more details than this...hope everyone can provide feedback!

Are you getting any? I cant wait to try them out! Chris

  3. I bought a box of the EXP01 at Dicks. I have used the Pro V1, V1x, and the new one. I found the EXP01 to be a good combination of the V1, and AVX. The cover is softer than the V1, and is easier to spin on chip shots, and green side bunker ones. To compare them, I have used all three balls, V1, AVX, and the EXP01 in the same. The EXP01 would be a great ball for us older golfers, where control around the greens is a great help

I just saw the MyGolfSpy article about the EXP-01. I'm tempted because I love having a lot of short game and iron spin, but I also like the high launch of the Pro V1x which is what I currently play. Based on what I see this ball is lower launch/lower spin on the long game, but I take it that means lower launching and lower spinning irons as well. If so this may not be the best fit for me, but I'm just curious to get thoughts and opinions before I decide if I will try it or not.

Announced on My Golf Spy 1st October the Titleist EXP 01 ball will be available in US and Canada in limited numbers. Looks like the next generation cover with increased short game spin but it feels different to the urethane cover.

    Will you try these?

Pity the Rest of the World doesn't get to try as most of you in NA will be dormant over the winter months (so hopefully a yellow version).

Check it out on My Golf Spy..

I will try it if I can find it.
  13. I plan to order a dozen later today directly from the Titleist site and give them a try. In Florida, we can always tee it up.
Looks like it is a 3 piece ball with a new cover and dimple design. I currently play the ProV1.
  14. Where can I find the EXP-01 balls at?

Yes - absolutely would like to try these out. I like to play a spinny ball around the greens and with the short irons. Curious whether this ball helps with the distance tradeoff on the longer clubs.

Was just reading about this new "experimental" Titleist ball which will be showing up in golf shops (if the shops request them) or you can purchase directly from Titleist. It's a 3 piece ball with a prototype urethane cover. I hope shops around me request the new ball so that I can try it.

I put an order in for them. Hopefully they will get here in time to play a few rounds with them before the cold sets in. I’m intrigued by the new cover. I will post an update after a few rounds!

Received my shipping notice and should receive them by Monday afternoon. On a hiking trip Tuesday - Thursday, so won't be able to try them out until at least next Friday...if the weather is good.

I wish I could delete my topic about this, when I posted I didn't see any other topics but I guess they were all awaiting moderation.

Anyway, based on what I've read about this ball, characteristics are similar to an AVX in terms of spin, but supposedly more spinny around the greens. I need the high launch and high iron spin the Pro V1x provides so I'm holding off on these. Pretty cool program that Titleist has started here, looking forward to seeing results and testing feedback from this and seeing what is released in the future.
