  1. I would love to give some feedback, but I've never been included in the prototype testing. Sadly.

    I didn't get to test this year, how is the durability of the cover? It needs to improve over previous models.
  3. 2019 Proto ProV1;

    Off the tee: I felt the ball was firmer but also penetrated the wind better. Overall got a few more yards it seemed like compared to the current ProV1.

    Long irons/fairway metals: This is where I definitely got more yards it seemed. Also ball flight was slightly higher and stopped quicker on the greens for great shot stopping action.

    Short game: I did not care for the firmer feel on pitch shots however chip shots and bump/runs were soft.

    Putting: Soft feel was there as always.

    I dont know what you have to do to get them, they always say they send stuff out but I have yet to receive anything, and I have been a loyal Titleist guy for well over 20 years
  5. #2019proto. I played the black. The feeling with the driver was excellent. The ball flight was normal with about 5 to 10 yards more carry. The real difference was hitting it with irons. With iron shots the ball went a little higher and had more spin. I felt very comfortable hitting this ball. Nice feeling on chipping and putting. I will definitely be looking for these when they hit the market.

    I had participated in the last 4 prototype testing cycles - I unfortunately didn't get a sleeve this time around.
  7. My coach gave a couple to try out and the ProV1x felt the exact same to me as original maybe little more softer by a hair but I play the ProV1 and when i played the prototype i noticed it felt like it a softer feel but dead coming off the face and compressed little more then normal Prov1 but i also noticed the ball did not bite as i would like from approach shots and rolled a bit more.
  8. Just joined Team Titleist hope I receive the new prototype balls. Anxious to test them here in Indiana.

    Current: 2017 Pro V1

    Tested: 2019 Pro V1 and Pro V1x Proto

    I finally had the time to properly evaluate the 2019 Proto Pro V1 and V1x balls in both warm/dry and cool/wet-windy weather, and to sum it up in one word...WOW. Not sure how Titleist does it but it is apparent that with each release of the PV1 and PV1x they seems to out perform their previous edition. So here is my limited experience with the 2019 PV1 and PV1x proto's

    Off the driver;

    I have to state that I tested these balls with my trusty old 910 D2 (new fitted TS2 ordered and on it's way!). I only had the opportunity to play a few round before the dreaded cold weather settled in for the year and ended my golf season.
    The 2017 PV1 and the 2019 PV1 felt very similar off the tee with the 2019 launching a bit higher to my eye. However, the 2019 PV1x was a very pleasant surprise indeed! It appeared to launch higher than the PV1, carry 5-10 yards longer and still managed to find the fairway on miss hits off of the toe, possibly due to less side spin, not sure as I do not have access to Trackman?! I did notice similar results on both a warm and cool day. I am typically a high ball hitter and the PV1x also held up very well into the wind without any noticeable ballooning.

    Off the irons;

    I did not notice much difference in the performance between the two PV1's . Results with the long irons were very similar with a good flight and they stopped quickly with little run out when hitting short irons into the green. The PV1x on the other hand clearly outperformed both of them. Long irons launched higher and landed softer on the greens or on approach shots. Even though the PV1x felt/sounded a bit harder off of the club face the short irons and wedges held the greens very well. I do not have a very fast SS so I do not generate a huge amount of backspin but the PV1x did check up better and faster than either of the PV1's.

    Off the putter;

    Again I did not notice much difference between the two PV1's with the 2019 PV1 maybe having a touch softer feel/sound that I am familiar with. The PV1x was noticeably a little more "clicky" off of the putter face but certainly not offensive to me at all.

    In summery, Titleist continues to successfully push the envelope with each release of their Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls. They just seem to find a way to make the golf ball better each release! As a bonus I did not expect the results that I saw with the new 2019 PV1x and I have definitely found my new ball for the 2019 season. I am anxiously waiting for spring so I can get back out on the course with my new TS2 driver in hand and the 2019 PV1x!

    Well done Titleist,

  10. Thank you for sending me a sleeve of the 2019proto black golf balls. After playing several rounds of golf I found the ball flight to be similar to the Pro V1 's I am currently playing, both the launch angles and the distance. The one major difference I have found is I am putting and chipping much better with the 2019proto balls. I seem to have better distance control around the greens. It does feel slightly softer, this maybe why it is working better around the greens.
  11. would love to try them but just joined. am I too late?
  12. It has been a while since I have been on here and have now just updated my profile will I be getting these new Proto type golf balls

    Hopefully you are still sending out the prototype balls. We're still playing golf here in Ohio.

    2019 Proto (Red Number):
    Ball is a lot better than the previous ProV1X in my opinion. Picked up a few yards off of the tee, more roll without sacrificing height. The ball really shines off of the wedges. Iron shots had tremendous height and would sit down without issue. The spin off of the wedges was just silly. I could hit the 80 yard shot with one hop and stop control and even had a few closer to 100 yards where I could spin the ball back a few feet. Haven't been able to do that since the tour balata days. Titleist hit the nail on the head for me with this ball.
  15. wish they never did away with nxt tour switched to tour soft and it's not as good a ball for distance.

    I played the new pro v at sandvalley, absolutely loved it. Long and straight off the tee, good spin around the greens. I can’t wait to put that ball into play next year.

    I hope to get some to. But being in Iowa my season is about done. Would not be able to give decent feedback till next year.
  21. WOW!! How does Titleist constantly make the perfect golf ball and then make it even better? Simply astonishing the #2019proto, both types.
    I have spent all month testing the 2 sleeves i got on several courses and different conditions. Even compared them to the current #Prov1 #Prov1X and #AVX and here's what I found...

    Off the tee: I could honestly feel so much more with my driver and 3 woods. And the ball compressed so well and rocketed off the face giving me more yardage overall. And both balls performed very well with an improved trajectory. The biggest advantage both balls i found was my mishits with my driver, MUCH more forgiving off the Toe and Heel on the driver, therefore more fairways in regulation for me!

    Long irons/Hybrids: Again both balls just launch off the face, carrying don the fairway well, and with the trajectory, the drop and stop on the greens meant less rollout and less chipping for me and more putting with my Scotty Cameron Newport 2.

    Short game: Both types of #2019proto combined with a #vokeywedge in my hands were a deadly combination around the greens. These balls performed amazingly. The feedback that I could feel with my short irons and wedges was something I have never felt before in a golf ball. At times it felt like I could feel the ball in my hand. And the way the balls checked up on a low pitch, or flew high with a flop, dropping and stopping exactly where I want, I couldn't have done better than if I used my hand to cup and toss the ball.

    Putting: When I opened the boxes of balls, right away I could feel the difference of the #2019proto. Both felt much softer than the predecessor. And on the green, oh my word! off the face of my @scottycameron NP2 putter, these balls felt so so soft. The sound was incredible and music to my ears. It was so incredible its hard to describe as you could feel the softness through the face of the putter, up the shaft and into your hands.

    Thank You @titleist for yet another amazing product that makes ME perform better at this game.
