Just tried the APX and lets just say they were puuuuuuure! I love the softer feeling. The ball noticeably flew lower and really penetrated on drives. Irons were butter smooth and chips checked very nicely! Love em! Please put these into production!
  2. Yes I have tried it and it felt credible it will definitely be my go to ball from now on.

I like the AVX, especially for approach shots: high, straight, 'drop & stop'. Played in a scramble on 11/10. Best shot of the day was a 9-iron to four feet.
The premium ball price seems in line with other urethane-covered balls (think B330 RX series versus B330/B330S).
  4. I would love to try the new ball, but at $48/dozen I'll stay with the Pro V1. I live in Southern Calif.
  5. I've played two rounds here in Florida with the new AVX. Great ball! 10-15 further on drives than my ProV1x. I'm buying as many dozen as I can find. You've GOT to release this ball to all golfers.

I played this ball last weekend at Rams Hill in Borrego Springs. My buddy, who works in R&D for Titleist got me a dozen of these balls to try. Let me tell you what this ball did for me. First, my driver miss, I typically have some push fade/slice going on. I never hit one all round. When I did push it out to the right it was long and stayed straight with maybe a one or two yard movement right. It tamed the spin off my driver for sure! I can’t play Pro V1 balls because of the side spin Input on the ball w the driver. Typically, I play NXT Tour. I also gained about 5 or 7 yards on my normal drives and some drives I was over 270 yds whereas an avg drive for me is 245 and if I crank one (stars and moon align)... ok, maybe more like the launch angle, face angle, club path, and sweet spot align, I am in the low 290s area. The AVX also came off my wedges from 100 out and typically stopped and bounced back one foot or just stopped where it landed (my wedge shots were pretty high using my 58-SM6). I usually get 90yds on a good 58, but three times I was at 100yds. Once, I hit my 7-iron into a par 3 w the pin at 155 and I was 20 yds begins the pin on the back of the green. That is a 175 7-iron and my normal flushed 7-iron is about 165yds and avg around 160yds. The ball is good for those who are looking to combat a little side spin off driver for sure. I definitely recommend this ball. Playing it at Torrey Pines South this weekend in a tournament (I have to buy a dozen of the real ones first). My golf center has them for $47 plus tax. A+++++.

  7. Recently flew to Florida to play a round of golf with a friend. While there I sought out the AVX ball. The ball was in such high demand that the sporting good store I purchase them at had the balls in individual plastic clad cases which I've never seen before. Nevertheless I purchased the maximum three dozen balls to share with my golfing friends. I tried AVX ball versus my regular Pro V1x and Pro V1x dot Ball. First I must say the ball does travel similar to the pro V1x but feels a slight bit heavier off the tee which I loved. The distance with the ball I must say was (like our European counterparts would say), delicious!

Around the green both myself and my golfing buddies from California agree that it is more like the Pro V1 ball. Because of the weight of the ball, (at least in my mind) the buoyancy off my putter (Scotty) appeared to be very soft and true.

I must say I'm very curious to try this ball in the Heat of the summer, in Georgia or Florida. Hopefully the price will come down by then.

The upside of this ball is the feel. If you are a feel type golfer, you definitely need to try this ball. Especially around or on the Green.

In conclusion I do recommend trying this ball.

  8. Tried the ball yesterday very disappointed with how it comes off the irons. My driver distance stayed the same 240 yards but my irons always came up short. Even when I flushed the shot I came up short. Looks like the irons create a lot of backspin and the ball doesn’t carry. Wasn’t able to hit them on a launch monitor to confirm the amount of spin.

I have played this ball for three weeks approximately 12 rounds. I absolutely love this ball. I was playing the ProVX. I found this ball is a bit longer and has a much softer feel, not to soft though. Not much cheaper then the Pro V line. I hope they continued to make this ball and if you get the chance you have to try it, I think you will really like it

I happened to be in Phoenix this week and picked up a dozen of the new AVX Ball in white, but it was also available in yellow optics. I am looking forward to testing the ball at home this week, I live in the Las Vegas, NV area. For the price point (47.99) it better be doing things the PRO V/VIX can't do. If it doesn"t perform significantly better/different for me, then I have no reason to leave the Pro VX stable. If it's supposed to fit somewhere between Pro V1 and X and NXT's then their should be a different price-point for the consumer to reason out the switch. Performance would be the only reason, such as green holding/stoppage, wind control, ball flight off irons and woods-All, short game action, etc...
I agree that a premium yellow optic ball by Titleist was needed, but if the price point and the characteristics are so close to Pro V's, just make a yellow ball and don't dilute the category with another mediocre ball.
  11. I hate to be a downer but this ball is not all it's cracked up to be. I get the impression that this is more of a psychological experiment. It started at my local pro shop, I show up for a round and the guys are all ooh and aah about the teal colored box on the counter. "These are exclusive" "longer and softer than the provide" a little more.expensive but so worth it I was told. So I bought a sleeve, the starter pulled me aside and asked me for some feedback after the round he wanted to hear from someone who could really hit it. How'd you think I reacted? Ego stroked, I teed off. I get this sometimes from balls like the b330 Rx, I have a swing speed right around 105-110, balls like this feel like I over compress them, usually hooking but never a satisfying feeling. I will say that from 8 iron in, there was an extra pop with moderate stopping power. So to recap, the ball flew shorter, was unpredictable off the clubs I need predictability from and was three dollars more than my prov. Nice try Titleist, I'll try the next one, this should fade away and never return

I tried the AVX and really love the ball. It seems longer especially off the irons. The feel is great the way it comes off the irons and the ball holds its line in the air.
Side spin seems to be minimized vs ProV's. A main consideration for me with balls is how they fly into the wind. Not sure why but the AVX seems to penetrate the wind better than the ProV's. I like the fact that the ball looks like the classic script "Titleist" look. The new dimples are interesting looking. Feel around the greens is soft with good checking spin. The ball just oozes off the putter. Hope the price comes down. Only found them on line at $17 per sleeve, not sure what test market price is.
  13. These are the most amazing golf balls I have ever played with. The flight trajectory is superb and the gripping ability on the greens is like nothing I have ever had before. These balls are hands down easier to hit and control. I am loyal fan of these balls. I hope they continue on to be a regular in the titles like up.

I bought a sleeve last month in AZ. I play the ProV1 in warmer weather and am looking for a softer ball when it gets cold in CT. I have played 5 rounds with them and they have great feel off the driver and irons, but it really shines around the greens. If priced right they will gain serious market share.
  15. Hit some shots on the course this weekend with the AVX, the new test ball and a "new" old version of the ProV1x. Since this thread concerns the AVX I'll keep my comments focused primarily there. The AVX distance off the tee was respectable and it felt pretty solid. It did seem a little jumpy off the irons. Had a good feel chipping and putting. That older version ProV1x was longer off the tee and more consistent off the irons and feels great in and around the greens. However, this years ProV1x is not quite the same. Reminds me of "New Coke Formula" from the 80's with what has gone down with the ProV line. I'm confident Titleist is aware and will fix things in future releases. Back to the AVX. Nice ball but not for me. I like a harder/lighter feeling ball off the tee with my 917 D3 driver. ProV1x (old school) or as much as I hate to admit it the Bridgestone B 330 gets it done too.

  16. I played some practice holes with avx yellow, nxt tour s, and pro v 1 on a cool north central Illinois day. The avx and nxt tour s out drove the pro v. However the pro v stopped and backed up on the greens The avx was similar while the nxt would hit and hop and stop a bit forward. The avx seemed to be a perfect blend of the best of both balls. Hopefully the price point will be similar to chrome soft because this truly is an awesome ball

AVX is the best ball I’ve played since the early 90’s. Feels and plays like the awesome balata balls of yesteryears without the negative qualities. Can stop ‘em on a dime and equal distance to the TP5X!! Should definitely be kept in the Titleist line up! Would like to see some of the Tour guys play ‘em, bet they would chose them as their regular ball.
  18. I got a free sleeve of AVX balls the other day playing in Arizona. I’m 51, 8 handicap and I usually plan the Pro V1x or Bridgestone e6(I like the less spin). Off the driver, it feels a bit hard/unremarkable, but it carries just fine and the distance is about the same as the Pro V1x. Where it shines is off an iron..WOW. Piercing ball flight that carries much better than the Pro V1x, and when it hits, it stops and on short irons, backs up. It feels awesome, especially on the short irons. And it feels great with the putter. I don’t get too excited about golf balls, but I’ll be purchasing more of these.

Definitely a premium ball with lower compression. The cover is great, as it spins, and has better durability than the ProV1x. Enjoyed testing it and hope it goes to market. I think I liked it better than the ProV1, but the V1x is still my gamer!

I am from Pa. and was able to get a box of the AVX optic yellow. My swing speed is in the Mid 90's and found that the Bridgestone E6 fit my game to a tee, the soft feel, spin, and distance.

I put the AVX up to the test against the E6 and the weather was in the high 40's. My findings were up to expectations. The AVX off the tee felt like butter, a little lower than the E6. but right down the middle with a baby draw and ended up 15 yards longer than the E6 both were struck well. Now off the Irons the feel was phenomenal, the spin was more than the E6 and the distance were about the same.

Around the greens I was able to carry the ball closer to the pin and with the spin of a PROV and yes much softer than the PROV which I prefer.

Final thoughts are, this ball will go in the bag and replace my beloved E6, but the price has to come down, Maybe between the NXT and the PROV line.
