Pristine performance, was highly impressed with the over all feel, flight and distance of the ball. It seems that Titleist has a hit, just one problem the price is a little bit high. It's priced more than the premium Pro V1, thats not good. Excellent ball.
  2. Titleist AVX was very impressive. Ball performed very well! Controllable off the tee with remarkable distance. 80 yards and out gives very good distance control with good spin. Shots around the green don’t have as much check power as a PRO-V1(X), but it will still check. Great job with the ball. Hope to be able to buy them here in Mississippi and Tennessee.
  3. I'm from PA and I have heard about the release and I was very curious. I've always tried new golf balls but have always have come back to the Pro V1s. I recently went on a trip to Cali and I was surprised to see them at the course I was going to play. After a couple of rounds of playing with them I couldn't believe the results. I went into the pro shop and bought every sleeve and dozen that they had in store. It was unbelieveable the distance I was getting. Easily 10 yards further on my irons and 20 yards further on my Driver than the Pro V1. With that said one would think they would be harder to control on and around the greens. That was definitely not the case. I could close my eyes and putt and chip with both golf balls and not be able to tell the difference. I was able to control shots into wind with a penetrating flight. Every aspect of this golf ball is perfect. I would pay any price for this ball to be on the market. I hope I'll be able to conserve my stash until it hopefully comes out onto the market and in stores.
  4. Hi, A friend of mind sent me a sleeve of yellow AVX. Played 2 rounds with them and was impress. The ball flew better with all clubs. Felt very good. I would say they were longer on distance. I play NXT Tour. Putting and chipping was very good with this ball. Held the greens very well. The only problem I have with this ball is the price. Other wise this will be my new next season. Great job on this ball Titleist.

  5. Had a friend in Arizona get me a dozen of the AVX in yellow and got to play one round with them. Great Ball! I'm 63 and was getting about 10 extra yards on my drives. The AVX was great off the irons as well, I have a HNDC of 9 and do like these balls. Love them in YELLOW. Final round of the year 39 - 38 for 77.

    Thanks!!!
  6. I tried these today and I really like them. I hope Titleist puts these in full production because it would be my new ball. Great distance and I felt like I was getting straighter ball flight.
  7. Titleist was gracious enough to send me a sleeve of these to try. I played them on Friday next to my current gamer, the cally chrome soft. I have to say I was immediately impressed. They certainly felt very similar to the chrome soft and I was shocked at how straight and long they were off of the tee. I live in Indiana so it was a bit chilly, somewhere in the mid 50° range. Typically, when it gets that cold, I will play a non-premium, extremely soft ball, such as the DT true soft or the cally super soft.

Just a little bit about me and my game in case anyone in a similar situation might find it interesting, I am 46 years old and have been very athletic my entire life. I played college athletics, although not golf, and my current handicap index is at six. My driver clubhead speed, up until about 2009, had been around 116 miles an hour, but a significant shoulder injury and right shoulder reconstruction has dropped that down to about 109. For whatever reason, I tend to spin the ball off of the driver more than many golfers, limiting my driver selection to low spin options such as the cally great big Bertha epic subzero, Taylor made M1, etc. In very hot weather I typically play the Z-Star And when the weather drops below 90° I typically play the chrome soft.

I have always respected Titleist as a company, as I believe they make exceptionally great products. That said, all of Titleist tour level balls have always turned me off because they felt excessively firm to me.

What impressed me about the test ball was that the flight was avery piercing, but with good carry type a flight. My gaming driver is a cally great big Bertha epic sub zero, and even in the cooler temperatures I averaged about 305 yards with the test balls.

What really stood out about this ball as compared to the chrome soft was that it seemed to spin much better on short iron, wedge, and approach shots. That has been my only complaint about the chrome soft. Now, it did not spin nearly as much for me as the Z-Star does, but for me few balls do. That said, Titleist has certainly made a ball that has me seriously considering ditching the chrome soft and Z-Star. I would gladly sacrifice 100 RPM on a full wedge shot for a ball that feels softer off of the club face. For me, the test ball had that advantage over the Z-Star.

TITLEIST-If you read this comment, I will tell you that I did not ever think you would make a ball that would make me give up on the chrome soft. All I can say is, I believe you have done that if you continue to produce this ball. In fact, I would suspect you might win many customers back who have left to play a softer ball such as the chrome soft or the Z-Star.
  8. Bought a box of AVX’s two weeks ago. Liked the ball so much that I bought another box yesterday. This is my new ball. Feels the same off the tee as a Pro V1 but the difference for me is the softer feel and much better control for my mid to short irons. Sticking shots closer to the pin on a more consistent basis. Great around the green as well and putts like a Pro V1. Bonus is the optic yellow. It is like a high visibility Pro V1 but softer and more consistent on the approach shots to the green.

Definitely a bit longer than the prov 1 and wind don't seam to affect the ball much
  10. I am 70 and like many my age have suffered from a fall off in distance. I have used played Titleist pro line balls for over 30 years with handicaps ranging from +2 to my current 5/7. I was about to make the switch to the TM line of balls.

However!!!!! Our pro gave me a couple of sleeves of the AVX to test. I think it is a dynamite golf ball. And I am enthusiastic that this ball will go into general production. It's ability to hold the line in crosswinds is exemplary, wind boring ability is a plus, overall distance is very good, feel is very good. I am not sure of its control level around the greens but it seems to react just fine on the SW chip shots.

Also, just for the heck of it I tested the cover for durability. I had heard the reason for Titleist not having a yellow ball was because of cover issues. Well, the company has won that battle. I don't like to play old balls but I continued with a yellow one and through 110 holes it did not look too bad. The gloss was gone and it is now resting quietly in a pond in MS after a simply horrible shot by me.
  11. To my previous comments I should add that I have played the ball (AVX)) on a recent vacation but it has mostly been played in very cool weather. It has reacted well. I would like to get my hands on them to play routinely and I hope the AVX will have a personalization program which I have been subscribing to since its inception.
  12. Played in a 2-man alternate ball tournament yesterday with my regular partner who is a Pro V1x guy (I play Pro V1). I agreed to use his ball since he's the far better golfer -- but it wasn't until the 4th hole that I took a closer look at it after I drove it way past where I normally hit it. That's when I saw he had gamed a new AVX. "What the heck is this?" I said. I'd never heard of this model. My pal had won a box at another tournament. We played the same ball all day and won the tournament with a 73. Never lost the ball, and it held up fine. Chips and putts like a V1 (I appreciated that since I'm not as comfortable with a V1x on my short game) -- but definitely drove longer and irons were about a half club longer. Not too hard, not too soft. I'd seriously consider switching -- especially now that I've won with it. :)

the test balls i got in the mail were identical to the new AVX ball
  14. I live in NC and was able to get my hands on some AVX balls. My current ball is the srxn XV. Compared to my current ball the AVX is not longer and does not stop as quick around the green. Distance off the driver also seems less. The biggest difference I notice is the height of the AVX. The AVX is a lower flight than my XV. The feel of the AVX is softer off all clubs than my XV but not a big deal for me.
  15. I tried the AVX and love it. Where in Florida can I buy more?
  16. Seriously I’m a 22.3 handicapper from the UK. I tried these today at Rosen Shingle club in Orlando. Stroke index 2 par 5. I was driver 4 iron to the green and lipped out the eagle! They went like a rocket and dead straight!

Might buy a batch of them
To take back to UK. I’ll be off 16 in no time

Actually @Titleist please send me 200 to UK for a though scientific experiment I’m the cold wet weather!

Tried some of these out the other day, as I received a sleeve off Ebay from someone if Arizona. This ball is hot. I live in Wisconsin and have played the newer ProV1 for the past season. There is a par 4 at the club I play at that is titch under 300 yards with bunkers guarding it. On a normal 80 degree day I can get the ball almost to the green on my tee shot and have been on this green twice. Yesterday I was 5 yards from the front of the green, straight as an arrow, and it was only 42 degrees. I'm very excited and curious to see what happens when it gets warm out 6 months from now. Wedge shots and chips around the green are a lot like the ProV1, but softer feel. On all shots the ball seems to melt of the club face. I hope that Titleist keeps this ball around as I am already a believer!
  18. I was able to play the ball today in Okla. It's a great ball. First time to play a yellow ball also. Really liked the ball. If price point is set for $10 less than Prov1 then im all over it and think you have a hit. But if priced same as Prov1 then whats the point.
Again love the ball . But id like to pay less for premium ball than having to currently pay for prov1. The game is expensive to play, would like to save money.
  19. Any way I can try these? I create too many rpm's and need to find a ball to lower it.
  20. AVX is a remarkable golf ball. Longer and very soft. Hope it goes beyond test marketing in Florida!
