I received my prototype balls last week. I am big fan. For me I usually play the Pro-V1x and love them, and the prototype balls I received were equally amazing. I found that I had less spin off the driver, but the feel was the same. I also found that the spin with the shorter irons was more predictable. Usually with the Pro-V1x it spins ok for me, but sometimes the grab Im looking for isnt there. The prototype ball fixed that issue for me. I, for one, will be looking forward to the prototype ball releasing.

Loved the test balls I got this last week. Felt a little harder off my driver (913D) and turned less. All other aspects of this prototype were great and I'd play this ball anytime! This shot was on a 58 degree day, into a slight wind, 165 yards 5 deg. uphill. Backed up 2'.

TT: I tested the new prototype PRO-V1x against the current model (2016). I live in New England and tested under fall conditions. 50-60 degrees. This is what I found:

The new ball launches a bit higher and provides a bit more distance, +1-2 yards.
The new was a bit longer with fairway woods (I use a 5 wood only), and hybrids (19 and 24 degrees).
The new ball definitely reacts better with all irons and wedges. The new ball spins and stops better with irons.
The new ball is softer, and definitely performs a bit better around the greens and with putting. Acts a bit more like PRO-V1.

I appreciate the opportunity to participate testing Titleist golf balls. They are truly the best.

Received a sleeve of prototype with a red "1". Very nice ball. A tad firm, but barely noticeable. Added extra distance with all clubs (lost two shooting over the green into junk with added distance, so need to club down one). Has the great the Titleist "click" off the sweet spot. Off center hits were not bad for distance. Good trajectory with all clubs. Has good hold pitching out of the long grass. Would love to find out which ball this is, and would be more than willing to provide additional testing.

Loved everything about the new ball. Pumped all 3 in the water at hole #14 so I wish I could have a Mulligan with them !! I will buy them when available. Nice job Titleist !!!!

Thanks for the opportunity to test my Red 1's.Conditions were less than ideal-46&windy-greens just plugged and sandy.Played 1st 9 as a warm-up with chrome soft and after loosening up made side-by-side comp.with both balls.Off the tee the proto had a distinctive "crack"while the CS had a more reassuring solid type thud but the proto consistently had more roll(5-8yds.) off my 915D2 and Tour AD DI shaft. Trajectory seemed about the same but tough to judge in the wind.Mid iron shots were about the same giving a slight edge to the proto but from 100 in the proto stops quicker. Putts of the CS seemed a little softer but when your hands are cold it's hard to tell. So now with new ammo, I have to wait for spring. Maybe in that time, you could work on one that Floats!!! Thanks

Got a chance to play both the black and red # test balls. My buddy had gotten the black and the next day I received the red. Both balls had great control with the black feeling a little softer off the putter compared to the red. The red was definitely longer off the Driver even over the 1X I normally play. Another quality product from the guys at Titleist.

I put my test balls into play this week. I noticed that I had a lower ball flight than usual on my drives. On my Iron shots from 100-150 yards I had a lot more action on the greens than usual. The balls were very responsive on short wedge shots. The only detractor I noticed is that I had cuts in two the balls after only 9 holes.
  9. When I received my sleeve of test balls I was ecstatic. I immediately went to a putting green with a sleeve a last years ProV'S and began putting them side by side. I noticed the test balls were fractionally more responsive and firmer than last years ball. Next I began chipping and pitching them, I compared flop shots, bump and runs, bunker shots. I found that the test balls had more spin and were a little more workable. When I finally took them to the course I noticed that I was able to hit my long irons a little higher and my short irons/ wedges were much more penetrating. Off the tee I felt that the test balls were a little bit firmer but had less spin than last years balls.

Overall I was very excited to test these balls and I'm looking forward to putting them in play next year!

    Thanks!
  10. I received my Prototype golf balls several days ago. I'm guessing they are a new ProV1 as they are not labeled as anything but test. Instantly I noticed they seemed to fly farther off the Tee with a little higher ball flight. With iron shots they definitely flew at a higher trajectory and stopped dead on the green. Putting feel is superb. I measured one drive on hole #10 as 291 yds. which is as much as 10 yds further than most of my drives. Actually, its been a while since I poked one out there at that distance. I am impressed over all with this golf balls performance and am excited about it hitting the store shelves.

Had the opportunity to test the balls on this past Tues. Loved the ball. Had the look and feel of a ProV1, the ball I normally play. It had a great feel, especially around the green. As a rule, I spin the ball very little, but my approach shots were stopping quickly. It may have been receptive greens, but my partner's shots were all running out. It was a pretty chilly and windy day, but my distances were holding fairly consistent with what I would hit on nice warm days. Shot 3-4 strokes under my handicap (17) and didn't lose any balls, all with no warm-up. Great day with a great ball. Can't wait to play my next round (next Tues, maybe sooner) with the test balls.
  13. Thank you Team Titleist for the opportunity to be a part of the testing process. I had the unique opportunity to play in an alternate shot tournament with a friend who uses Pro V1x's. We decided that on the holes that I teed off we would use the "Test" ball and the holes he teed off on we would use the "regular" Pro V1x. We both found the test balls flew a little higher and about 5 yards farther. Same increased yardage with iron shots. As far a chipping and putting goes we didn't notice any discernable difference between the Test ball and the "regular" Pro V1x. Keep up the outstanding work. It is nice to see a company that is not content to be at the top of the mountain!!!!

Hope to get to participate again next year!

My major concern with ball flight is spin off of my driver. I can overspin a ball into a moderate power fade, but hit the ProV1x testers like an arrow--right down the middle. Hit 14 of 15 fairways with it and equaled my best round of the season. I liked the little extra carry with the short irons and that with all of these advancements I didn't lose any feel on the putting surface. This is my ball for 2017.
  15. Had an opportunity this week to test one of the prototype balls that I received. Seemed to be a lot like the V1x I played but did have a bit more bite around the greens which I liked. It was a bit of a colder Ohio day and looking forward to this weekend when the weather is going to be much warmer to see if there is any other differences. Will report back after this weekend. Thanks for the opportunity to have a voice out there.

I took the new proto balls out this week to test them and could not have been more pleased. It was a windy day and the ball performed great. I was getting more distance and control on every shot. The ball performed great around the green. I was able to keep even my worst shots in play. I shot my lowest round ever(75), and this is after being away from the game for almost a year(knee surgery). I want to put these balls in my bag now.
  17. Played these today for the first time. Overall the ball plays well. I normally play a ProVX and these are very similar. A little softer and appear to be lighter. Ball has good spin for me but I don't prefer too much spin. The cover appears to be typical titlist dimple pattern but less eccentric pattern. Ball has regular trajectory but it is cold in Ohio. I think in warmer weather this ball would play too soft for me. Overall a great ball none the less. Attached is a photo of the "test" balls I received. Thanks Titlist, I appreciate allowing me to be one of your testers.

This new prototype ball is an improvement over the ProV1X I play. Has anyone ever made a hole in one while playing a Titleist Test ball besides me?

Played the test balls yesterday. They had a lower, more boring trajectory than the balls I usually play and distance off the tee was excellent. However, they did seem to spin less around the greens and felt firmer than I like. Except for the performance around the greens, would have guessed they were Pro V1x prototypes.

The balls that were sent to me were just as good and gave me the performance of any great Titleist golf ball. I'm not surprised to see why Titleist has such a reputation for great golf balls. When using these test balls I felt that with any good shot I took, the ball would respond with another great outcome for a shot. There is nothing more you could ask for from your golf ball and I know Titleist will continue to make great balls for any player looking to improve their game.
