Prototype Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls shine in Las Vegas

Bright lights. High stakes. Prototype golf balls.

Each of these can be found in Las Vegas this week as the PGA Tour hosts the Shriners Hospitals Children Open at TPC Summerlin.

The practice rounds were busy for players and Titleist Tour staff alike, as Titleist Brand Ambassadors and golf ball loyalitsts prepared for the par-71, 7,255 yard course while also testing the new Pro V1 and Pro V1x prototype golf balls.

Enjoy some of our favorite moments from the week, below:

  • At 8 a.m. Monday, Titleist Tour reps and associates on site this week gathered inside the Titleist Tour Van. “It’s an exciting week, a new prototype Pro V1 and Pro V1x on tour,” said Frederick Waddell, Senior Manager of Golf Ball Product Development, addressing the group. Waddell, along with Pitts and Beyers, spent the next 20 minutes discussing the two new prototypes and answering questions. Toward the end of the discussion, Pitts pointed out the new side stamp, referring to its shape as a “wedge.”Vokey Tour Rep Aaron Dill, looking over at his boss, Bob Vokey, remarked with a wry smile, “We like that.”
  • Titleist Brand Ambassador Cameron Smith spent a good half hour testing the new prototype Pro V1x and analyzing his results on Trackman. Pleased with the numbers, he told Pitts and Beyers to put them in his locker for further on-course testing Tuesday.
  • On a chilly, overcast morning at TPC Summerlin, Titleist Brand Ambassador Jimmy Walker walked off the third green with his head down and a Vokey Design wedge in his right hand, a new prototype Titleist Pro V1x golf ball bouncing up and down off the face.

  • Titleist Golf Ball R&D Tour rep Fordie Pitts also walked alongside Titleist golf ball loyalist John Huh for a few holes as he tested the new prototype Pro V1x. On the second green, Huh looked over at Pitts and said, “Do you have extra dozens of these in the locker room?”

We also spoke with Titleist golf ball loyalist Davis Love III, the only player in this week's Shriners field who was also here in 2000. Davis has some unique perspective on the Pro V1 golf ball and the impact it's had on the game. Listen to the podcast, below:

TITLEIST BY THE NUMBERS

A total of 102 players are trusting a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf ball for their success at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, more than seven times the nearest competitor with 14 and more than all competitors combined.

Good luck to all of #TeamTitleist this weekend!
