So it’s been a very uneventful golf season for the last two for me. I joined a club close to work for ease then when I got a promotion ended up an hour away from the course and the old “that won’t make a difference I’ll still go” didn’t seem to be the case. Having played about 8 times in two years I’ve moved to a course closer to home, bought a launch monitor and net for home practice and intend on making a strong comeback this year.

Hopefully a good one for all team titleist members and hopefully by around this time next year I’ll be single figure playing consistently again.

Not sure anyone else is in the same position but if I gave the game up I’d be lost.

Hard work and practice will pay off and you’ll be back in single figures in no time at all. ️‍♂️

Hard work indeed mate. Going to put a lot of time and effort into this year and hopefully come out singing by the end

    Hey!

Unfortunately, it’s a game that has hold of you and so hard to walk away from, but great to hear your going in hard this year.

What’s your plan GEwan? Are you going to get a few lessons under your belt, or focus on a routine you use to do?

Also, what’s the local course you have now moved to? Only reason I ask, I work for LNER and we terminate are trains at Inverness so would be interested to know as coming back up north next year and looking for some links courses.

    Regards

    Simon.

    Hi Simon

So plan is to get a few lessons and get the basics right then have a target handicap or score for the year and look to achieve it at least by half way. Also going to track stats and work on the parts that I’m losing shots to reduce the doubles etc.

I was a member at Moray which I highly recommend to anyone if you’re happy to travel. Hotel facing the clubhouse is reasonable priced if you wanted to make a trip of it. This year I’m moving to Kings golf club in Inverness. Not the links course I’m used to but for being close and more accessible when I can it’s a no brainer. Cabot highlands is here if you have the chance and money to play it. Fortrose is across the seasick bridge and also a decent links course at a reasonable price then you have two courses in Nairn with one a championship and the other a decent inland links style course where I was previously a member and thoroughly enjoyed.

Try kings club though if you are up as it’s a fairly new course and a decent challenge in its own right.

And you are right it does have a hold. Never met anyone that’s given up that hasn’t gone back to it. Always tell folk it only takes one good shot to make you believe it’s the greatest game on the planet
