My first decent set of waterproofs were FJ. They lasted me years and years.

What ever you buy will be quality.

Was always told if have a budget oner spend on the jacket as you will always tend to throw that on more than the trousers.

  3. John,
Think its depends on what you want them to do.
I'm going for the Hydroknit - for the summer at least. They're light and very packable so they don't take up any room in the bag and they are reported to be very effective. Just not sure how warm they might be.
If you want to layer up and use your waterproofs in the depths of winter, you might be be better researching Dryjoy Tours LTS at the top of the range - they are still a lot cheaper than Galvins.

  4. I purchased a while ago the Footjoy XP trousers, and to be honest they have performed great and a really good design (zipped pockets etc...) the only thing I'd comment on is that they are generous in the straight leg look, as they are not like galvin green (of which i also have a old pair of) where you can velcro them tighter around the shin/ankles.
Dryjoy Tour LTS as above also look good and would perform well - good luck!

I have a pair of the Hydrolite trousers. I really like them and you can find them with good discounts as well.

I bought a set of Footjoy Hydrolite's last year, they were excellent, Ultra lightweight and not noisy. I used them a lot during the chilly conditions to keep out the wind. Would definitely recommend them.

I too bought the previous seasons and manage to get the set for about £160
  7. I like my Galvin Greens, but wear a Footjoy waterproof jacket as occasional social golf wear as I think it’s looks classier. And also it has proper pockets in usable places...

Been caught in the rain with it a couple of times and never had an issue.
