  1. Anyone on here have any ideas how we can play golf and practice social distancing when we golf. Do they open clubs to just members or visitors too? Do they open the pro shops to support the staff and club by bringing in money for the clubs? Only have 2 balls and online bookings. Hopefully we can get some good ideas on here to help clubs find a way to survive this crisis. Also to help get Titleist back to our clubs so we can buy lots of new goodies too haha.

There’s a good read in the bunkered website regards all this looks like there will be some steadfast rules and some local ones too.
  3. Thanks I will have a look this evening and see what they say about it.

Not really sure how this will all pan out but hopefully we will all be playing soon.

Listening to the Prime Minister today we are past the peek which is just great news.

    Stay safe all.
  5. Hi ,
My club has sent a mail out with their proposals
To start 1 or 2 balls, increased time between starting times, removal of ball washers, bunker rakes, flags to stay in (if not removed ), seats benches covered out of use , if you book online no need to go into pro shop just shout through window that you are here, contactless payment and distancing / shield if you do have to go in pro shop, Bar/clubhouse closed -seating moved from patio
Emphasis on 3 metre separation when playing
Their emphasis on rest of year is keep safe, keep fit and play for fun
No comps no scorecards, handshakes etc

  6. Thanks for the message. All sounds good if it means we can all play golf again. All really good ideas too. It would good like you say, shield if going in the pro shop good and purchase new equipment too, which helps keep the club going.
  7. Long post so I wont blame you if you cant stay with! I sent this into my course as a option based on members only.

Been trying to think of a fair way for people to be able to book and play golf without members missing out.(should we start being allowed too)

Best thought I've come up with so far is the following based on 4balls and 18 holes. sadly 2ball groups are just too restrictive to ensure fairness across the majority.

    1. Each member selects a group of between 2 and 6 others they would ideally like to play with, out of this a four ball would be formed if it can be accommodated.

    2. Each member has the opportunity to book and play 1 weekday game and 1 weekend game.

3 Each member would provide 2 preferred weekdays and a preferred weekend day. These cannot be guaranteed but would assist in planning.

    4. Each member provides 2/3 hour slots they would prefer for teeing off, they would be required to provide a morning and afternoon time to ensure maximum flexibility. e.g 7-8am, 10-11am and 2-3pm.

    5. The slots would be fixed at weekends ensuring the same member play together at the same reducing their social bubble and ensuring they have a round each weekend.

The preferences given above would not be guaranteed of course but would assist with helping everyone get back on the course enjoying the game again. I think it would be unfair to allow anyone to book more than one tee time at a weekend and by limiting the weekdays to 1 round max, you are ensuring maximum flexibility in the week. This way everyone has the opportunity to play 2 rounds a week, which is more than most partners allow golfers to get away with! If excess weekday slots are available these could be advertised on the app for people to book,

I'm not sure on the total member count but operating tee times from 6.30am to 3.30pm would allow for 216 members per day in 4 balls. So should hopefully be enough to get everyone who wants one a round on the weekend?

To over come 4 ball v 2 ball issue, I would propose 2 tee locations on each hole separated by a equal minimum of 4m where possible. One pair would play from white and the other from yellow. With the colours alternating on each tee box in distance from the green. This would even out the total course yardage between the 2 pairs over the course of the round. Players would be required to putt out on the green, waiting for each player to finish before the next enters. I haven't worried about fairways as being within 2m of each other is highly unlikely and common sense would prevail.

Searching for a lost ball should be strictly 3mins maximum to allow pace of play, and potentially a temporary local rule of a 2 stroke penalty could be enforced to allow a player to take a drop in location of a lost ball. This would prevent provisional, walking back, extended looking times and risk of queues at tee boxes. Pace of play will be an important factor. I'm not 100% the rule is a good idea but might suffice until we can get back playing comps!

Anyway its just a thought but I hope it may help in some way. Cant wait to top one off the 1st soon!

    Kind regards,
    Tom
  8. Looks like the R&A have suggested ways in which we can ease back into golf. As mentioned looks like it will be limited to two balls and clubhouses closed.

Just waiting on info from my club but will update when we know more.
  9. I also hope we can be back outside soon. Apparently outdoor activities are least risky so most likely to be back sooner.

One proposal was to have face masks needed. Possibility for Titleist/Footjoy to enter new market to provide a high quality mask, if they are needed? Don't want to take anything away from other areas that need this, like the NHS, but there could be demand here and would rather have a well designed and manufactured product than a old t-shirt ripped into shape.
