    Morning All,

A couple of months ago I purchased a Newport, I have been thinking about taking off the original Scotty pistol grip & putting on a slightly thicker Super stroke Pistol GTR 2.0.

Has had anybody had any experience of this, the reason for the change is I feel the current grip is just too slim, in my past I've had the GTR grip as it offers just a little bit more stability for me.

My question is, will it completely ruin the putter set up?

    Cheers, Will.

No it won't ruin the feel, grips can vary in weight but it's such a personal thing. If you can I'd suggest having a pro pull the current grip and try to keep it intact so you can replace it if necessary. If you do revert back to the scotty grip I'm unsure how easy it so to pull a super stroke grip though, it may need to be cut off!

I changed my Newport 2.5 grip recently. I replaced the red/ grey matador grip with the oversized black matador grip.
The dimensions of the oversized grip are
    Diameter 42mm
    Lenght 11 inches
    Weight 68g
It didn't change the set up of the putter and I like the fact I still have a matador grip on my scotty cameron!!! Local pro was unable to get me one so I found one online.
  4. I've found getting new grips always feel better in the hands. Thicker grips tend to promote stability in the putting stroke for most people.

If your more familiar with a certain type of putter grip chances are it will give you more confidence in you're putting stroke and make you hole more putts.
