Hi all Got fitted for a tm-b 2 iron and ended up going with a graphite shaft. Ordered on Thursday so hope to have it by end of next week as I have lots of links Golf the week after.

Have any of you tried irons with graphite shafts and what have been your experiences?

    Hi Stephen
I wanted to get fitted for one but there weren't any available to try.
    What have you gone with?
    Cheers

    Hi Martin
I have gone for the 2 iron standard with tour ad 95s. Just felt easier and lighter to hit. Can hit low and high shots with more confidence than with the steel shafts.
Was only by luck a local pro already had one and run comparisons from there.
I hope it comes this week!
  4. Stephen,
I've got 716 T-MB 3 & 4 irons but I tend to use them mostly off the tee. They are both on steel shafts.
I'm happier with the 4 off the fairway but the occasion doesn't often arise.
The "gap" in the Titleist top order - though I'm happy to be contradicted - would seem to be a Driving Iron and a graphite T-MB such as you've ordered would seem to fit the bill. I'd certainly be tempted to drop one or both of mine for such a club.
You've made me wonder if a re-shaft to graphite might be an option... Will quiz my fitter at the earliest opportunity!

    Hi Stephen,
I actually just finished an club fitting session at Titleist Germany.
(As you might have read in my previous post that my some of my stuff got stolen thanks to the TeamTitleist emblame).
Doing the long game, results were not surprisingly. The TS models only increased in height but not in total distance.

But I also wanted to try the TM-B irons. Because my gap to my 3wood from 4 iron is a little too much.
With the standard Project X shaft I'm getting the distance I'm looking for but not that carry I wish. I also have no clew why Titleist places such an difficult shaft in this iron. (Taken apart of the fact that these irons are for the better hitting player). Project X shafts are simply hard to hit. (I can say this from a 10+ years caddie experience on tour)

But now comes the fun part. On tour I used to see Titleist staff players with TM-B irons with graphite shafts.
It's with the red label on it. It's not KBS I simply forgot to look at the type model. But when I was at the Titleist fitting center in Germany last week I tried the graphite shaft in the TM-B.
With 110 mp/h swing speed we placed a heavier graphite shaft with the same flex in there. Guess what the penetration was sick! The distance I got and the forgiveness is 100%.

I can really recommend it, but simply try the different shaft options and get fitted at your nearest fitting centre.

    Happy swings,

    Bart

  7. Hi Stephen
I have a TM-B 3 iron with a Aerotech Steelfiber Graphite shaft. I have only hit it 5 or 6 times but it feels good
I do have a slight fade with it, but it is definitely pilot error and not being familiar with a graphite shaft
I will sort that out hopefully and it will be a good addition to the bag fingers crossed!

I’d be interested in trying this as an option. I currently have a hybrid as my 4 iron equivalent but it would be good to see if a TMB would produce better results.

yes I cant wait too. Like a child at Christmas!

    Matt,

is there any way of tracking it? it was ordered from Northants County golf club last Thursday. They have tried but been unable to get through.

    Thanks.

I can’t speak for graphite shafts but I’ve got a 4 and 5 iron 718 T-MB with Nippon NS 880 chrome shafts which are progressively weighted and I hit them beautifully. The four iron is probably my favourite club at the minute. I wish I’d ordered a 3 iron instead of a hybrid.
