Wow, that place looks awesome, but I can see how wind can be an influence!

Too technical for me to explain properly, but look at abbreviating your swing (a la Tommy Fleetwood) and hitting low punches. I find that in wind, everything becomes more reliant on feel and how your game fits the conditions. I just try to use the wind as much as is possible and club up as much as I can, to minimise spin into wind whilst keeping the flight as low as possible.

For me, downwind is the more difficult to deal with, as sometimes you seem to ride the wind and the ball goes miles, yet on other occasions, the wind knocks the flight down!

If I were to be lucky enough to play somewhere so majestic, I'd just enjoy the challenge and not worry too uch about the score...

I played today at my home club Dunbar golf club. Sunny and no wind at all, I wish it was like that all winter it was a joy to be outside

Having played in similar winds over the weekend, my only advice is: a lot more club, swing easy and try not to hit down into the ball too hard. Other than that just accept its not going as far and play accordingly.

Oh and yes, lovely course. Being from that neck of the woods, I played the Northumberland coast a lot, Dunstanburgh, Seahouses, Warkworth etc, love going back home with the clubs.

Key for wind play is being neutral and smooth through the ball. Don’t try and beat the wind too, use it to your advantage. Most importantly, enjoy it. It’s not often you’ll play in such conditions. Enjoy the good shots and smile at the bad ones

Easy wind tip. If you have 5 iron distance with wind, choke down a bit on a 4 iron which will flight the ball down. That choked down 4 iron will give you a 5 iron length club and distance.

Great course, I play there every year.
50mph wind and it was cold would be at least 2 clubs extra. Tough holes after the par 3 castle if the winds against !
Try putting the ball further back in your stance, grip down and don’t follow through as normal, more like a punch shot(stinger)
