Thanks a million to Hannah and all at Titleist for the opportunity to get a fitting with Mark at Carton House yesterday. This was my 3rd time at the centre in the last 7 or 8 years and the most enjoyable fitting to date. I have changed driver and fairway woods a bit the last few years (909, 913 and now 917) but am still playing my 2008 AP2's which I love ( or at least I though I did) with Project X Rifles 5.5 .
Didn't feel I was swinging particularly well but what I was pleased about , was that my bad shot ...my big miss left showed up consistently every second shot or so..
First we tried the AP3 heads with a few different shafts and almost straight away distances went up. Carrying the ball 10 yds or so further then my current AP2s. Forgiveness also was so much better to me. I hit alot of shots that seemed heel and toe and off the bottom grooves but yet the still got a nice height .
Then moved on to the AP2 head and after a few hits / mishits the forgiveness and ease of hitting with the AP3's just couldn't be ignored.
My handicap goes up and down between 9 and 12 over the last few years and I loved my current AP2s....but I think I would have swapped straight away yesterday.
Absolutely loved the 818 H1 hybrid also. Now to get saving .
In the end we settled for
AP3s 4 - PW Project X LZ 6.0
818 H1 19* Aldila Rogue Black 85h
