    Not sure if this has been discussed, but does the consumption of alcohol by others inhibit your enjoyment of playing? It seems as more and more people drink and golf, and it's getting out of hand. The "top golf" mentality seems to be creeping in more and more. Being loud. Boisterous. Yelling. Screaming. Slow play. Taking too much time hit because of talking to playing partners. Golf rage. Etc. And it's not just at public courses. It's actually worse at private clubs. I've seen horrible altercations and people being kicked out of clubs because of alcohol. I enjoy a beer after a round. But not during. I think it's a false crutch. There's a time and a place for everything, and inebriation on the course ruins the enjoyment of the game for me. Curious to hear other thoughts.

    I do like to have an ice cold beer sometimes while playing, but some people can't seem to control themselves. It's an unfortunate reality that in America we have to turn every activity into an alcohol and food event. I'm not ready to support a total ban on either one while golfing, but there needs to be that discussion. Maybe start by cutting off any hard drinks from the beverage cart, and close down the snack bar at the turn for players. Everyone should be able to survive a round of golf without heavy food or alcohol dependence.

    I am not against having a beer (or cocktail) or two while playing. It's when it gets out of hand it gets annoying. In addition to that is when I find beer cans and liquor bottles thrown in the brush next to the cart path. Just throw it in the garbage. There's a garbage can every few holes if not every hole. It's not like they're going to call the cops on you. It's like when I see cigarette butts on the course. Would you do that in your back yard?

    I agree I have a beer per 9 two total plus I do agree with you on the cig butts I did just quit smoking after forty plus years. But never throw butts on the course and always picking up cans and trash on the course one more thing on the greens people spitting sunflower seeds on the greens gross.

    I play in the lowcountry of S Carolina. Hot and humid weather, even thru this week, 85* today. Alcohol just does not mix well in these conditions. Not something that interests me on the course. Am a water, Powerade or Gatorade or any other liquids that provide hydration. As I have gotten older, the consumption of alcohol just does not interest me like it use to.

    Not a fan of alcohol during the round. A cold one after is nice but not a requirement. When it gets out of hand, I get annoyed only because the line of etiquette gets blurred on the course and the volume tends to increase.

    If you can drink responsibly, all good.

    I stick to keeping hydrated with non-alcoholic beverages.

    I play with the same group of golfers when I hit the course. The few times I play with randos, I don't notice any issue with golfers who may have had too much to drink. I don't mind if a person I'm playing with is having a drink but as in activity that might involve an alcoholic drink here or there, it's all about moderation.

    If I recall there was also a thread about music being played too. Moderation is the key, personally I could care less if people had a cocktail or played music as long as it is done with respect to others. I watch LIV over the PGA for this reason, FUN.

    When you have a family member who was a full blown alcoholic and died from it, you kinda just do not find much of a need for it anymore. Again, like everything else in life it is about choices.

    I find it happens more in scramble events. The last scramble I played in the group in front of us would stand on the tee box & talk with drinks in hand, but no club. It happened several holes. then we noticed they would take a shot after every birdie they had while still being at the green. It made the round almost 6 hours long.

    I play most of my rounds during the week, so I don't experience it much during those days. Most of the people playing on weekdays understand golf etiquette and are there to play golf.

    I have no issues with a drink during a round of golf, just when it impacts the flow of play. Music doesn't bother me at all. I don't even get distracted by conversation when I play.
