That’s when it gets really fun, Winter in South Florida is the best for golf.

Up here in Canada North of Toronto, our courses pretty much shut down at the end of October so moving your game to the indoors or heading south are the only options short of going into total hibernation for the winter :)

Being in NC, I play pretty much year round. I tend to hit balls in my indoor net just to maintain my swing vs range work, but still play quite a bit weather permitting. I also focus more on my yoga & gym workouts, as well as swing speed training in winter months.

I consider myself very blessed, thanks to my lovely wife. When we moved to S Carolina in 1984, I had to two choices, Columbia and Charleston. My new regional manager really preferred that I move to Columbia but did give me a choice. I was coming into a new territory that was needing to be developed. In that I was asking my wife to give up her job, leave her home and family, I let her make the choice. I had moved a bit all my life around the world, it really did not matter to me. Did not play golf and was pretty dedicated to my work. So here were are in the lowcountry of S Carolina where we really do not have seasons. We play golf pretty much the year round. Rain is our nemesis. Two or three weeks out of the year we will get a cold spell where we might have to layer up. Fall is here and we are playing golf in the high 80's. Have played golf in shorts at Christmas time over the years. The weather is fickle, but favorable to playing golf. The worst time to play here is June thru September where the heat index can hit 110*, The humidity takes it's toll. Of course that is when the tourists swarm to the coast for the beaches and golf. Can be a 15 minute drive down to Pages Okra Grill, which normally is around a five minute drive during the off season on Coleman Blvd from our house in the old area of Mt Pleasant. Your drive thru our town on the way to Isle of Palms and Sullivans Island. Not much change in the game.

Being in Michigan and without the ability to move south, I have no choice but to play indoors and work on my swing and just try and stay loose.

If the weather forecast is above 32 degrees and not a lot of wind, I’m playing. Great thinsulate underwear means no bulky outer wear to affect my swing. Snow will send me to the 19th hole of the greens are covered.
Teeing off to frozen fairways brings out the inner Rory in us. And, if the tee boxes are frozen, always carry a hammer in the cart to pound the tees into the frozen ground.
Light snow is preferable to warm rain as the snow just falls off you.
And the best part of all: Fewer golfers = more tee times.

If the weather forecast is above 32degrees and little wind, I’m golfing. New thinsulate underwear make it unnecessary to wear thick, heavy sweaters. Snow can be a problem but a light snow is preferable to rain as it falls right off whereas rain makes one uncomfortably soaked.

With my arthritis it slows my swing down. It hurts more. But I keep playing as long as I can.

I guess the only way it changes is when I have to start layering up. Especially in December, January and February when the long johns have to get put on. That's when the swing gets a little shorter.

With more layers on, the focus is on a shorter swing and confirming a good grip.

I'm not sure if "Play Shorter Rounds" references the time it takes to play a round or the course length. Either way, as the weather gets cooler it seems like less people are out playing, so I can finish my rounds quicker...less time waiting on other players. I also move up a set of tees since in the cooler weather the ball typically doesn't travel as far, plus layering slows my swing speed down a little.

In Ohio when the weather turns, it becomes colder for sure however instead of playing 9 or 18 holes it is just as easy to play a few holes or travel to weather climates !

Thankfully it's been changing slow here in Ohio, but indoor sim rounds are in the near future. Have to stay sharp somehow! On the plus side, I did order a Pro Putt Systems indoor putting green to transform part of my basement into a 5-hole green. Hoping for a better short game next year!

I play here in Kansas until it doesn't make sense to go play. Sometimes my range times increase instead of trying to play golf while it's cold. The mornings can be brutal with our winds, so I'll do range time instead later in the day.

Living in Northern California, the biggest change we see with the cooler weather is the potential for wetter conditions on the course. Rather than play the normal tees that I play in the drier months, I might play a combo tee setup, so the length is shorter. When my home course is wet, it plays very long for me.

Being from Golden, Colorado we can golf year round. 300 days of sunshine helps!

We can get pretty cold in winter so you get more roll out on the fairways, so I play every approach shot a bit shorter. Other than that, I can 3 putt just as well in cod weather as I can when it's warmer.

Ha ha ha I love the putt comment. My buddies like playing Snakes, I have to admit, I dont know the rules well other than don't three putt. They ask every time we play if I want in and I always tell them no, I'm the three putt king.

I live in Chicago so i normally have to turn to simulator and just trying to improve my game.
