    Ok guys.  We have all seen the other guys fitting systems.  The ones with the hinged putters and how long are your arms.  All that jazz!  What I am curious about is why don't we get fitted for putters like we do all the other clubs in our bags.  That is the one club we use more than any other, but there isn't really a place to go get fitted for a putter.  Especially a Scotty......unless you're one of the lucky ones who can afford to go out and meet Scotty himself!

    I must admit that the putter is the one club in my bag for which I have not had a full fitting for.

    Does anyone in TT know what is directly involved with a Titleist/Scotty Cameron putter fitting session?

    For example, doles the fitting session include the usual: club/shaft length, grip/hand size, lie/loft? What about toe flow and the putter stroke itself?

    I have seen some that use a laser set up to track the putter stroke and path. Another I witnessed used a "test" green to assess the ability to read putts, break, pace, etc.

    Also, I guess I am curious as to whether this is something that is or can be offered at the various Titleist Fitting Centres or is it only at the National/Massachusetts Fitting Centre and the Scotty Cameron Studio?

    I think the reason is that the putter is the most individual club in the bag. Just watch the PGA, European Tour players. Players have used 23" to 54" putters; blade ( hosel: indented, flush, slanted) ( shapes: anser, napa, bullet, flat); mallet ( small, large and huge); grips ( regular, medium, large, super stroke). So basically it what ever feels the best and gets the best results (ball rolls over and in the hole). I have four different putters 34" to 35" napa type blade (Odyssey), anser type blade (Scotty Cameron) and a mallet (Odyssey). All with different size grips (all firm).

    The pros also use different style and weight putters depending on conditions - fast conditions lighter weight; slow conditions heavier putters. Again, it what every shape weight length grip size that feels comfortable and confident that the ball will roll where you aim it and in the hole.

    So go try as many style putters as possible and if it at all possible putt with the ones you like on a real grass green. You will find the putter or putters that feel best for you.

    I'd recommend going to see someone with a Sam Puttlab. Very informative to say the least! I looked at your profile and saw you are in Missouri - I don't know if any of these are close to you.

    I got fit on the SamLab and it took three stores off my 4-handicap. They find optimal specs for your stroke and preferences and then then give you the freedom to choose which putter is inside the specs and is comfortable for you and your eye.

    Do whatever it takes to go to Scotty's Gallery in Encinitas, CA.  It's an intensive, 2 hour fitting in a state of the art putting studio.  It will change your golfing life.  I did it and it's amazing.  While you're in CA, go get a full club fitting at TPI.  If you're serious about golf, you'll never play the same again.  Good luck!

    Get to the Gallery..... Spencer or Joey know the craft and will get you on track with the right stick. It is well worth the money.

    I recently  purchased my first Scotty Cameron putter and went through a basic fitting.  My fitter also did the basics with length and lie.  He focused more on getting the putter flat with my existing stroke.  I think the more important fitting analysis was the simple capability to test all of the putter styles simultaneously.  I was able to select a putter based on the style I felt most comfortable with and the feel.  Grip type was a factor for me.  Too early to tell if all this reduces my putts.
