    Hey, i just read a great topic on Golf Digest website talking about the time a golf glove lasts.

    How long does a glove last you guys out there, what kind do you use and how do you get it to last longer? do you get the rip on the bottom of the palm?

    Sometimes i just don't even want to wear a glove!

    Hi Eric,

    Thanks for the post, this is a great question. We recently talked with our gear team about gloves and their care.

    When you take your glove off, don’t tug from the thumb and fingertip material. With your free hand, unclasp the Velcro tab and work the glove off the back of your hand, palm and thumb. Then hold the middle of the fingers and slide your fingers out.

    After play, smooth the glove out to its original shape, fold the thumb over onto the palm of the glove and smooth it flat. If the glove is wet from perspiration or weather, lay it flat on a towel to dry. Once dry, store the glove back in its original packaging to protect it and preserve its shape.

    I find that my Titleist Players Glove usually lasts 3-5 rounds (which generally includes an additional 3 hours of range time). My gloves wear out by the leather of the thumb pad tearing or wearing a hole. The gloves are generally otherwise in great shape.

    Hey Erik,

    Great question. Never saw this question asked before. I have used gloves for many years. As I have a small pair of hands, for an adult male, I have had many problems with my hands slipping off the club especially when my hands get sweaty. So I was told to try using a pair of the all weather Rain glove. Wow! These things are awesome in the rain but they are awesome also if you hands sweat a lot or you want a more positive grip with your club. I have been these Rain gloves for many years now, since whenever they first cam out. I use them always on the course, on the range and whenever I practice my short game. The only time I take them off is whenever I am putting or whenever I practice putting.

    I play a lot of golf and practice quite often. Maybe 40-50 hours per week. My gloves last me about 1 to 1 1/2 months. They do seem to eventually give way on my left hand (I am a right-handed golfer) near the heal pad. I am hard on my gloves and I rinse them everynight when I am done. They are quite durable. I used to use the Titleist cabretta leather glove. These feel and look great but they never lasted very long. They also have a similar synthetic material glove which I have used and they last about a month but it did not have the feel the cabretta leather did. My black Rain gloves are a keeper. I can honestly say they have made me a better golfer as they have significantly improved my grip. Hope this is of some help.

    Hey Eric,

    On the FJ community page this was brought up. One tip that i really enjoyed was switching out the gloves and not playing the same glove every round. So last summer I had about 3-4 gloves that I would rotate and believe it or not it worked. All 4 gloves are still in good shape and will probably use them again this summer. After every round, I put them back in a plastic bag to protect it.

    In the past I always stuck with one glove until I got holes in them. And that went quick.

    When i'm on the range though, i'm using the gloves with the holes :)

    I recently moved to the Atlanta area and when playing in the summer I have adapted a new habit of rotating 2 to 3 gloves during a round. My issue is that I sweat ALOT and the gloves loose the tack after a few rounds. Generally speaking I go through 4 to 5 gloves a season. I like the Footjoy SiFi and Titleist Players. That is good advice Abby posted.....I'm sure it will extend the life of your glove.

    I always use the Titleist Players glove. They are soft and supple and thin for excellent feel. Like Abby says, I also return my glove to the original envelope package to keep it's shape. I usually go through about 5-6 gloves per year. As soon as they loose their softness (from sweat or dirt), I buy new.

    The main reason that most people do not get reasonable wear from their gloves is that they are not getting properly fit gloves. Most purchase gloves that are too large. When I purchase mine they are very tight with about a quarter of an inch showing on the Velcro and no extra room in the fingers. Leather stretches with wear and that needs to be taken into consideration. Also bad grips are not good for golf gloves. Just an observation from one who's gloves do last more that a few rounds. Rotation of gloves helps and using older gloves at the range when pounding balls is an option.

    Just like my grips, I change my gloves probably more than necessary. I like the feel of fresh grips and gloves. I change my wedges, short irons and driver grips usually 3-4 times a season. The rest of my clubs get new grips at least twice a season.

    My glove is typically changed every 6 or 7 rounds. I normally play 3-4 rounds per week in season, with a couple range sessions and lots of short game practice in between.

    My typical wear-through pattern shows up between the 1st and 2nd knuckle on the outside of my left index finger and the heel pad on the pinky side. I use Titleist Players gloves as my everyday glove, but have recently discovered the FJ "Pure Touch" which is a very soft cabretta leather and feels incredible. At the frequency I change gloves, they can get a bit expensive, as they don't last as long as a Titleist Players gloves and are about 10 dollars more at retail prices. The Players glove is cabretta, as well, and works perfectly well, but the feel of the Pure Touch is amazing.

    Because I go through so many gloves, I tend to buy them in bulk, usually on Amazon or Ebay. Can't find them everywhere. 

    I think I will start rotating gloves and care for them as suggested above. Maybe they will feel newer for longer and save me a few bucks.

    Out of al the gloves I've used, the titleist players glove has lasted the longest for me. I can usually get 5-8 rounds out of one glove sometimes more. I fold the thumb to the palm of the glove and then put it back into the package I took it out from and it seems to make it last a little longer for me.
