What is the best way to clean and maintain my footjoy icon golf shoes.
Chris PKaty, TX
First of all, Great choice of shoes. My routine is to wipe them off at the course and put shoe trees in them right away. As for cleaning, I use saddle soap, let them dry and then give them a good polish with a creme based polish, not a wax base.

After a round a always wipe them down with a damp towel to get any excess dirt or mud off. When I get home I wipe them down with a towel and Meguiar's Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/Conditioner. Then I store them in a shoe bag with shoe trees in. I've been doing this for years and all of my shoes still look brand new.

The Mr. Clean magic erasers does wonders

I don't have any evidence, but I'm not sure I would use the magic eraser on my shoes. Won't that thing remove paint? I would think it would be too abrasive for leather shoes. I could be completely wrong and maybe others have more knowledge/experience with this, and if so, hopefully they will chime in.

I have never cleaned FJ Icons but I have white 14's and I used "Simple Green" to clean them and it worked like a charm!
Hope this helps,

Hi Rodney
the way I clean my 24 pairs of fj,s ranging from classic,s, icons, dry joys to dry joys casuals, is clean them soapy water dry them off . Then I use Footjoy Polish & leave the polish to dry then buff them with a soft shoe brush.

Soapy water, a soft towel, and "Awesome" cleaner (available at most dollar stores) always work well together.
