  1. Currently I have a set of 718 AP1’s.

I went for a fitting a fair few months since, and I was told to concentrate more on having a few lessons as the AP1’s I had suited me fine for the time being.

The fitter at the time told me I would be suited with a set of T300’s in the AMT red shaft, but didn’t want me to pay full for a set of new irons when it wouldn’t have benefitted me as much as lessons would at that time.

So after having lessons, working hard on my swing, I am back thinking about the T300’s and should I bite the bullet.

Will I see any benefit plying the T300’s over the AP1’s, Or am I getting giddy fancying a set of clubs because they’re newer?

    Thanks in advance!

Could be a little of both. If the shafts are the same, the heads will be astatically different but functionality will be minor for most of us novice players. That said, just like why I tend to lease cars, I seem to always want the latest models. Nothing wrong with feeling good about what you have in your bag.

if your lessons really helped your swing and your game you might also want to test the t200"s. if you need or enjoy the extra offset stick with the t300"s. t300"s will very likely be longer with stronger lofts and more forgiveness.
  4. A bit of extra forgiveness never hurt anybody!

Il head for a fitting, and see what the results are.

In Australia, Titleist sometimes runs demo days in which you can game the latest clubs (e.g., T200s/T300s). This might be an option wherever you are located. Additionally, in August 2023, the new T-series should be released. I've been gaming the 718 AP3s and I still feel they have a bit of life left. Having said that, I will wait patiently to see what comes out next.

I was tempted by the first T200s because of the forge feature and then the T200s that followed were tempting due to their pure and aesthetic finish. However, the former's looks were discouraging while the latter's muscle-plate material was somehow despairing.

If I were to choose a current set of irons that suit my eyes and likes, I would go for the T100s, but my game is just not there; I am not that good of a ball-striker :(

Need and want are different motivations. If the T300 was the best fit for you before swing changes, then it would be worth a new fitting.
At the fitting, consider the null option. You may want a new set as a reward for hard work and you like the feel even without any improvement. Or there is a new configuration that shows enough improvement that you need a new set. Be it T300 or something else.
In my case, the overall improvement in launch and feel was a need to get the 2021 version of the T300.

Love my T300’s (2021). They are long and forgiving and very consistent. I played AP1 714’s and I can say the 300’s are better. Good luck
  8. Same here. T300s are awesome.
  9. Order T200 or T100S now. By the time you get them you will be a low handicapper!
  10. Maybe on Tour and get them for free. Just about 3 months and waiting for a combo set of T-100S with T-200 5i.

T300s are very forgiving. If you were fitting for them and you have been working on your game with them? No use changing to another harder to hit set. Enjoy your new found success.
  12. Who doesn't like a new set of clubs? If dollars and cents are not an issue, reward yourself for playing better now. Else AP1 still works, as long as we can enjoy the game.

thanks for the info on this thread. My Club is holding a Titleist demo day and was thinking about upgrading from my current setup (5-7 AP1/8-GW AP3 model 718). given the chance today, might hit the clubs, but would prefer to wait until the fall when the new models arrive. Plus, I have a few lessons to schedule so that could be a factor in the selection, as well.

If you have taken a bunch of lessons since the fitting you may need to get fit again?

I took 4 lessons on iron swing and before that I could hit PW 110 yds. Now I'm hitting it 125-130 yds. I could barely hit a 56° 65 yards now I'm hitting my 54° 105-110 yds.

I would think had I got fit before the lessons I'd be fit something completely different from now.
