  1. Hello, I am about to pull the trigger on pre-ordering my SM9 wedges (54F and 58S). I currently have miz JPX Hot Metal irons, with KBS C-Taper extra stiff shafts, which are 130 gram. I am wondering which wedge shaft option I should go with? I do not have a problem hitting the high ball and would prefer the lower trajectory shots, especially in my wedges. I have been looking at the KBS 610 wedge shaft and have read good things about them. I think it will be a perfect fit for my 54*, but am kind of nervous putting it in my 58*. Another contender I think would be the KBS Tour shaft. Any thoughts or direction on flex, options, and my thinking is appreciated. Thank you guys and gals!

I recently got fit for wedges as I wanted to upgrade my sm7s. Just like you I never had a problem with hitting the ball high but I would often have the ball zip back more than I would like. I ended up getting fit into the SM8 52/56/60 with the KBS 610 S shafts. The shaft is more stout than then wedge flex shaft I have but my control on shots has improved night and day. 610s are designed for a lower flight but also take some spin off the ball which allows the ball to hit the green and stop. With shipping delays another option was to go with KBS tour shaft but I think 610s take the cake on 3/4 and 1/2 swings. In my last couple of rounds and practice sessions (which wedges is what I enjoy hitting the most) I have noticed my confidence has increase knowing that I'm not going to get a sudden flier on a 3/4/ or 1/2 swing and also that on full shot the ball isn't going to zip back on me. On my 60* for chip shots as I mentioned that shaft is more stout and has a stiff tip section. I've found it is easier to find the low point and my get more of those "clicky" sounding crisp chip shots.

I went Nippon Modus 3 125 wedge shafts. I get a lower flight than the stock TT wedge shaft in my Vokeys, 50/54/58. Smooth as silk but I can step on them as needed. Caveat is for me they fit perfectly since I’m in Modus 3 tour 120 X in 4-P so ymmv. If you’re already in KBS then their offerings you mentioned might feel more consistent to your irons. Good luck!
