  1. Good morning/afternoon/evening all,

I placed an order for a new set of T200s a couple weeks ago and as any other person obsessed with golf, I have been watching videos and reading up on these post fitting. I see a lot of influencers and folks on Reddit being iffy about the muscle plate on these.

Personally I think the irons looks insanely good but am wondering if anyone has had a set for a few months now and can comment on the wear and tear. Almost worried that they might chip and crack over a short period of time and waiting 3-4 months for a repair on something like that would be brutal.

Wear and tear is a given on irons but at the same time, these were a good $1200.

Just wanted to see what’s out there. Thanks all!

Mine still look good as new but I am expecting, and not worried, about some eventual marking in the backs of these. I have some lead tape on the short irons and that affects the appearance much more than a few scratches. My previous set were T-MB's and the dark coating around the toe and heel had lots of wear. My point being, If you ever look in the bag of a Tour player, their clubs look pretty rough. They are tools that if used often, will look like they are used often. I won't go out of my way to mess them up but I won't shed a tear over some visual wear. As for repair, unless the entire backplate comes off, I don't hold Titleist responsible for normal wear and would not even think about sending them back for some sort of repair. I don't expect everyone to agree with my opinion on these but this is my perspective. Hope you enjoy yours.
  3. I've had a T200 6 iron since mid November—still waiting on my T100S to complete my setup. Literally I am playing 6 iron then gap wedge right now. That said I'm using the 6 iron on basically every hole and play a few times a week. The plate has not bothered me once and the iron still looks new. I think the reviewers have made too much of that rear plate. I am sure it's mainly there for aesthetics and it's part of what makes this new version look so much better than the previous generation but to be clear the plate doesn't bother me at all. YMMV.
  4. I,
Have to say from the start that I love these irons. I'm only a few weeks into my new T200's but so far so good.
I use iron covers to protect my bats - as you say, they ain't cheap - and hope that stops the "collision" of clubs (particularly against the muscle plate on the back) and reduce the potential for damage.
I'm pretty confident that the plates could be changed in the event of catastrophic damage.

I have had a T200 5 & 6 iron as part of a combo with T100s in my bag since late Sep 2021 and have played over 25 rounds both in cart and walking with typical club chatter. There is no evidence of a lack of durability. I would not be hesitant to purchase the same again. Other than wiping clubs off after each round, no special care has been given.
  6. The lacquer is coming off at the places where the irons collide in my bag to the extent that the plastic part is visible in some of the clubs.

Only 2 weeks old and made my first out of town trip yesterday. Checked golf bag at airline with my normal protective case plus wrapped a large golf towel around the irons. Pulled out my clubs this morning to go play and saw the damage to my irons. Several had blemishes with the attached photo showing the 7 iron damage. I am not pleased. I just upgraded from my old T200 version to the newest T200 version. When I return from my trip, I will certainly be contacting Titleist about this issue. This is really bad.

Titleist has responded via my retailer that they will re-head the T200 clubs that are damaged with new T200 heads. Well, that is positive; however, there are concerns of mine that remain. Assuming that I accept the offer and wait the quoted 3 to 4 weeks to get the re-head work done, I am guessing that I will experience the same issue with the paint on the backplate again. I realize that this is a cosmetic issue only and has no effect on performance, but I just am amazed that Titleist did not expect this result. My 7 iron has incurred the most damage, I am literally able to scrape the paint at the damaged area margins off with my fingernail. I replied to Titleist through my retailer with 2 additional remedy options: 1) re-head with T100-S heads as they are the same price and will not experience the paint issue, or 2) just remove the backplate paint (or tell me how to do it) and let the base polymer backplate stand as the color. Under the paint, it looks very acceptable. I do not know why Titleist felt the need to paint the backplate in the first place.

Update: Titleist has agreed to re-head my T200s with T100S heads. Thank you, Titleist. Great product support!
