You'll need to work through your local store/pro shop authorized dealer to arrange for a pickup return for service. It's just how Titleist does business using their dealer network. Of course there are delays in place with the Carlsbad site closed. Looking at the grip, it doesn't look like you've over-used the club. Titleist will likely honor the warranty.

My 5 iron snapped in the grip for the 2nd time yesterday. I've had a total of 6 irons snap in the grip on the downswing. I have the AP3's with the true temper black shaft. Something is wrong with these shafts. I'm 61 with a swing speed around 100.

Crazy place for a break. Usually see them at the hossle because that's the stress point. I would be surprised if customer service did not honor a repair for a break in the grip area. It's a common shaft so should be available. Like Don said, take it back to the Titleist distributor where you purchased it and they will handle the details. If you got them second-hand, that might be more problematic. You will have to call the customer service number and see what they say. Good luck!

I've seen them break like that before. Luckily the shaft didn't puncture the grip and go into your hand. I've seen that happen too. Should be a warranty item but if not, it's a readily available shaft from Golfworks so any reputable repair shop can reshaft it.

I just had this happen to my 718 AP2 7-iron. Almost identical spot. I just ordered a new shaft and had my local guy put it in. I figured Titleist would be backed up and I did t feel like waiting.

Sounds like a defect that was so small it took a while to show up.Even though its out of warranty, I'll bet Titleist steps up and replaces it.

Yes. Has happened to me twice this year. AP3 718 3iron S300 in February and AP3 718 6iron S300 yesterday (28th June 2020). I bought irons 2nd hand so had no warranty. Cost me £45 for new shaft and grip (through my pro with Titleist). Expecting same cost for 6iron. Both snapped in exactly same place in the grip. Losing confidence in these shafts rapidly.

So from reading this thread it’s clear that this is a common fault with the shafts.

I’m wanting to get in touch with titleist as this is a major safety issue. I’ve just had to spend the day in the emergency room as my 4 iron snapped at the grip on the start of the downswing and sliced my thumb open.

Did anyone on this thread manage to get hold of titleist and hold them accountable?

first, Titleist does not manufacture the shaft so you would need to show that somehow Titleist was doing something cause the shaft to break as part of their assembly process and show that it was a known safety issue to show negligence. I am sorry for your injury and situation. Suggest you try and address concerns with the shaft manufacturer.

You can call Customer Service to seek remedy.

Beyond getting the club rebuilt, this may get legally complicated. The shaft manufacturer gets involved. Did you buy the club from an authorized Titleist dealer? Is the pedigree solid? If your club is an AP3, it will be 3-4 years old. You might even get True Temper (through Titleist) to supply a new set of shafts. Filing for medical expenses would require you to seek legal advice

I am in touch with titleist and they said they will either replace the shaft like for like or replace the whole set with a different brand.

My main issue is that should I have confidence that this won’t happen again. Titleist have basically said that I won’t get an answer as to why the club snapped.

As for legal side they basically said as they are out of warranty then that’s a no go. Bought second hand from a friend.

If I went down the change shaft route what would people recommend as a like for like change to match true temper black s300?? I really have no idea on iron shafts.

This has happened to me today. 4 iron snapped where the grip ends when at the top of my backswing. Not great considering the clubs are two years old and couldn’t use them for 3 months due to Covid……

Yeah, as others have mentioned the options depending on how much patience you have. (1) bring it to your authorized Titleist dealer and they can contact Titleist and should be able to ship to back to them and have it fized under warranty. Or (2) if you can't wait the few weeks, then have a golf shop replace the shaft, but at your own expense.

Whenever I ever had any issues with any Titleist clubs, they were quick to respond and fixed it quickly. But with a lot of things shut down, it could take longer than normal.

Glad that you weren't hurt when it snapped. That would have freaked me out!

Really Strange place for a shaft to snap?
What kind of bag to you currently place these irons in?
I had a friend that broke his in a similar place....he actually banged his putter against his bag after missing a putt for double, a few holes later his 6i snapped under the grip. Golf shafts are thin and can crack if dented in any sort of way.
