  1. Hey what’s up guys,

I’m new to golf and was looking at some iron sets to buy for my first set. What older Titleist irons would you guys suggest for a beginner? I was looking at older clubs like 710 and 712. I read some forums saying ap1 and ap2 were good beginner clubs but was looking to some more input. What would you suggest?

    Thank you!

The AP1 models are a bit more forgiving than the AP2 sets. My suggestion would be start with AP1's and move to AP2, T-series, or another model later as you develop your swing. As important as the model of clubs is the fit. Do a Titleist Thursday and get fit for shaft and lie angle. Then apply those discoveries to your AP1 purchase. Also, get proper instruction. I know its a bit of an investment but starting with good fundamentals is much easier than correcting later after muscle-memory has set in. Welcome to this great sport and have fun out there.

Definitely go AP1. As you progress and get better, you can move up to an AP3 or maybe even AP2, or make the jump to the T-Series. T100 correspondS to AP2, T200 corresponds to AP3, and T300 corresponds to AP1
  4. Ap1 would definitely be the most player friendly irons out there at a good price

Hi Angelo, AP1 - 100%. From personal experience, a set of 712 AP1 got me back into playing better golf.

I had new TM irons and wasn't playing a lot of good golf and so drifted away from it. A few years later I purchased used Titleist AP1 irons and began to hit good shots again, they inspired me to stick at it until I found my game.

Following the advice above, I progressed from the AP1 and now play 718 AP2 so hopefully you find the right AP1 set to inspire your game.
  6. Thank you all, appreciate it!!
  7. I'm also a beginner golfer and found a sweet old Titleist 804 OS 6 iron. Definitely didn't expect to see such a good club especially being left handed. I'd like to find the rest of this set but would like to know if its an easy club to learn with as well. Thanks for all feedback.
