I have a new 7 MB I carry it 152y solid hit. My old club was a carry 165. Why the loss in distance, clubs same length. Should I change loft on
MB.

Hi Jason, - Your 7 iron is 31° and your 710MB 7 iron is 35°. I would expect to see a one club difference in the two irons as your other iron is the same loft as an MB 6 iron.
THank you, for your fast response. How many degrees can I bend club without damaging? Would it even be possible to get my 7 to 165y? My driver club head speed is 115 mph, should it be farther than 165.
Couple of things about bending a chrome plated club - for every degree you bend it, it changes the bounce accordingly. Take your iron and place it sole down on a table top (as if you were teeing off on the table). Bend it forward or strong and you can see the bounce on the sole will go down, too. If your swing plane is not overly steep and don't take big divots, you could bend your iron a degree or two strong, but the long irons are going to have minimal bounce ( or zero) if you bend them two. Secondly, you take a chance on crimping the chrome at the neck when you bend it more than 1-2 degrees. Lastly, at your swingspeed, if you were extremely efficient, your ball speed on your driver would be about 170 which would be one of the faster ball speeds on tour. On their irons, most of our tour guys at that speed really focus on controlling flight and stopping the ball. It is possible you can bend the 710 MB 7 iron 2 degrees strong and get about half the distance back, but you are hitting a 6 iron on your other set so trying to make your 710 7 iron be a 6 iron is going to be tough.

Cathi is exactly right guys.
Thank you, for answering all of my questions. I have a couple more. What can i do to get my 7 to 165, and if my club head speed is 115 which is one less than Rory why does my drive go anywhere from 50 to 80 yards less. Even If I make great contact?

It's not a game of "how". It's a game of "how many". With your irons, one must develop an intimate relationship with each one to know exactly what distance you hit them. Distance is not the issue with irons. Consistency and repeatability are!
Many years ago, there was some "standard" loft designations. During the early 90's, manufacturers found they could "jack up" lofts and the weekend player felt like he/she was hitting the ball further. You could buy a new set of irons and hit the 7 iron the distance you used to hit a 6. The difference was stronger lofts... not a large bowl of Wheaties for breakfast.
The manufacturers have done exhaustive R&D to develop optimum loft/bounce combinations. To alter lofts, as the poster from Titleist stated, also changes bounce. If they were my irons, I would leave them at factory lofts and get used to the distance vs. club number. After all, it is just a number on the bottom of the club.
