How much yardage can the wrong ball cost you?

I’ve recently switched to the PV1 from the X to try it out more. Probably half a dozen rounds now. I am loving it short game wise and think the extra roll out really fits my game better.

However… I am consistently about 10 yards shorter with the PV1 compared to the X. Could this be the ball? Or a newly developed contact issue that just has happened to be at the same time?

The Pro V1 tends to fly lower than the X, that could be the reason.

Hard for us to say not seeing your ball flight and speed. It could be that you are such a low spin player that your drives are knuckling and not giving you the lift you need for your optimal flight. Sometimes giving up a few yards off the tee is not a bad thing if you are controlling your approach shots, hitting more greens and scoring better. Everyone seems to want to get a few more yards out of their tee shots but the most important thing is the score you make on each hole. Maybe play around with the surefit settings on your driver and see if you can dial in a few more yards or use ProV1's at your next driver fitting to get the best results in a new driver that matches your preferred ball. Good luck and good play!

If it is consistent with driver and irons, I’d bet on the ball.

As I’m a slower swing player, with a little more spin and a little more height with the X, as they say, can go a long way…

Pro V1x is the optimal premium performance choice for players looking for maximum distance, who need higher flight and more stopping power.

Pro V1 has a softer feel, less spin and flatter trajectory than Pro V1x, which makes it the preferred model for players who like exceptionally long distance, the ability to flight shots, and score with precision and touch.

Go to the 150 yard marker with sleeve of both balls. When you've hit a few good shots with both balls, you'll see right away which trajectory you prefer. May take 20-30 shots to really see the difference. If you're a good striker with the irons, hitting an 8 or 9 from 150, you have to make a choice. If you're in the South with a little wind, the ProV1 wins most of the time. As far as the driver, I'm 20 yards shorter with the X, as it launches at a higher trajectory, for me. I'll take the loss, as I like the X's with the wedge shots, and short game pitch shots. Not really a hard decision, just don't over complicate it.

All valid comments...to me it comes down to control inside 100 yards.

I hit the ball on line with target, but I come up short with mid and short irons. Is it the ball or a contact issue?

If you happen to live near any simulators that offer a trackman or something that can give you the data, it may be worth taking a trip. You could get on there and compare the two balls for spin rates and ball speed. A lot of this would be hard to see with the naked eye

    I'll guess
Up to 20 or 30 off the tee, multiple factors leading to spin/flight pattern).
Usually not more than 4-5 with irons for the 99%
**Play with a GPS and measure shots so you can make an honest decision.**
IRW - Monitors lead to a swing you might not be able to bring to the course and remember 10 drivers in a row means you are lying 19.

    A) Finding it and B) Knowing where it will go distance-wise most important.
200 yard jacked-up loft "9- iron" only means you'll need five wedges.
    Good for Vokey.
  11. Everyone’s different, I thought I’d need a low spin model so tried the avx and left dash, loved the left dash distance but hated the feel, avx was okay but wasn’t getting the distance in all areas and the greenside spin wasn’t enough for me, so like many, settled into the v1 and was happier, however, had a ball fitting where the v1x was a much better fit for me and my swing and gave me more distance off the tee and approach play, presumably due to the spin alongside excellent greenside control - I’ve grown to love the feel (which I didn’t like initially) and couldn’t be happier and have gained in distance — titleist have some great material (website and YouTube) to support doing your own ball fitting, if it’s working and your gaining - keep going with it and enjoy!!
