  1. Hey, iam a girl playing college golf in NC. My swing speed with a 6 iron is 79. I hit my driver 220 yards. My handicap is 3.

I should prefer more distance from tee and hit more greens.

I wonder which ball suites my game best ?

My coach tell me that my swingspeed is to slow to use ProV1 ore ProV1x.

Camilla, I am a 67 year old male and I am guessing that we have fairly close to the same swing speed due to the distance of your driver. I hate to disagree with your coach, but for me the ball that ihave found to be the best for me is the Pro V1x. I worked for several years as a course marshall and had the opportunity to try just about every ball on the market and for my style of play the above ball has been my choice for a long time. I'm just saying.

I would think your coach would set up a team ball fitting appointment.  It may be worth looking into.

Q1: What ball are you playing now?

    The real question is this.

have you played both of the balls before?

if so, which one performed more to your liking?

If not, go out and play two balls for at least 9 holes. One ball the "X", the other the original.  And then ask yourself the only question that matters.  Which one do I like?

I had always played the original, I went out and played both balls.  What I found really opened my eyes, I hit the X a full club further off the tee.  Where I would hit an 8 iron into a green with the original ProV, I would hit a 9 iron.  I like the short game feel of the original, but I am willing to forgo a little feel around the green for an extra 12-18 yards off the tee????

    Camilla,

Please try the Titleist DT-Carry golf ball.

It is the closest golf ball design, with the performance you are looking for in a ProV1x ball, based on the technical specs of your swing. It has 252 dimples for low spin (distance), and streight ball flight. Try them you might like them and you might even teach your coach something.

If you are hitting your drives around 220, your swing speed with a driver is probably around 90-100 mph, in which case you probably could use a Pro V1 or Pro V1x effectively. If you check the article in the new Golf Magazine, they actually talk more about the effect provided by a soft feel around the greens. Though I'm sure your coach has all good intentions, the simple thing to do is to ask a pro.

I'm 61 with a driver swing speed around 100 mph and find the Titleist NXT Tour to be the best combination of features for me.

Who do you play for? My grandkids live in Cary, outside Raleigh, and have become big UNC fans.

ProV1x offers more spins than the regular one. Depending of your game, it may be good or not. You should try both and see. Personnaly, I play with regular ProV1.

  9. If it's possible, you should go through a ball fitting to determine which Titleist ball is best for you. If you don't have access to a ball fitting...go out and buy a sleeve of Pro V1's/Pro V1x's. Play a few rounds with them. Practice around/on the green(s). After that, you should get a better idea which ball is best for you.

I personally say that if you think a pro v1 acts fine for you than use it. Think about it, if a pro hits a half shot and the club head speed is 70 mph for that one swing, it's not like the ball isn't going to react differently than a regular shot, the ball will go as far as you normally hit it with that speed. The ball doesn't know who you are, it goes as far as it should go with your club head speed plus extra spin.

I'm also a girl that hits the driver about 220 yards but am a 14 handicap and I'm only 13. I was wondering if you play D-1 golf because I'm looking for a scholarship and am curious what my expectations should be if I want to play in college.

     Thanks, Julia

    Hello Camilla,

I am my name is David Bustamante and i am one of the Titleist Ball Fitters in the West Coast.

Our approach to golf ball fitting is from green to the tee, so we want to address shots to around and to the green to give you the best scoring opportunity.  Is not news to hear that you would like to hit the ball longer of the tee, I think that all of us want the same, but that would automatically make you shot lower scores.

The answer to your question is Pro V1 or Pro V1X. These two ball have a Urethane Elastomer cover, and will provide you the best ability to control your shots to the green without sacrificing performance of the tee.

The best way to select which one fits your game better is doing a side by side comparison. go to www.titleist.com/golf-ball-fitting

and print a Golf Ball Fitting Scorecard (You will find instructions).

I hope I help, but if you have more questions just ask, we will answer them for you.
