Last week got an invite from a local Pro about doing a tour ball fitting at his course. I know the pro pretty well and he knows how loyal I am to Titleist so he reached out to me. I've done a ball fitting before but it's been a while since I've done it and thought this would be a good opportunity to try the new balls that have come up.

Today I play the ProV1 mostly b/c I love the feel. Period. The fitter was well aware. So remember I said that.....

4 balls were available ProV1, ProV1x, - ProV1x and AVX. We hit short game (70-100 yards), 7 Iron, driver and then chipping both fringe and rough. It was a good fitting b/c I was striking the ball so no hesitation on what the results was gonna be.

We started with the ProV1 and the fitter ended up ruling out the ProV1x after seeing the spin rates were too high on the ProV1. After the ProV1 tested the - ProV1x and then AVX. 45 plus minutes going between the 3.....

FINAL RESULTS: dash ProV1x Why: Lower spin, better launch and better landing angle. My reaction: WHAT?!?!?!

I was shocked after what I considered a solid fitting that the dash ProV1x was the better ball. I know I'm all about feel since I love that soft feeling but the results speaks more, Trackman numbers don't lie. And when chipping around the green, I really didn't notice a big difference. Couldn't believe it.

Conclusion: Get fitted and be open.

Looks like I need to get rid of these ProV1s and move onto the dash ProV1x...

    Speedy,
Sounds like the entire process was awesome and the outcome completely unexpected. I'm sure you have plenty of friends that would enjoy getting a sleeve or two of Pro V1s from you.
Best of luck with your new ball.

Speedy- Thanks for sharing your experience with a ball fitting. You have peaked my curiosity what ball would be the best for me. I'm playing the PROV1x.

I am going to search out a good ball fitting.

I already ordered 4 doz. Pro V1 during the Loyalty Rewarded program. Then I found a new Pro V1x in the rough one day, played it a couple rounds and loved the feel and performance. That resulted in me buying another 2 dozen of those. Now, the left dash version seems to be getting so much love, I guess I have to buy a test dozen of them as well. I'll settle on one of the three by end of summer. And to think, the last three winters, I played AVX.....and loved those too. Titleist makes almost too many great Tour balls. Some companies can't even make one. Not naming names. ;-)

I guess open-mindedness is really important going in based on your experience.

Got a chance to play a full round with the dash ProV1x and so far I'm a fan. I could definitely see the difference between that and the ProV1 that I normally played, especially the spin. And right away the "feel" went out the window and just enjoyed the results. Around the green I thought it was great as well.

I'm still shocked I was fitted for this ball. Definitely looking forward to getting a few more rounds with them.
