  1. Hey guys just put the new 2021 Pro V1 in play today and instantly noticed it playing much better than the previous generation in the wind. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

I have noticed more improvement around the green, but I have also noticed it having a more piercing flight in the wind here in Kansas, haven't played the 2021 much as I have lost all 3 of my test balls. Waiting for the loyalty rewards program to buy plenty of them though.

  3. I can't wait to give these a go. I'll have to make a bit of a decision though, as I really like using the AVX in the wind.

Wind can be a distance killer with any ball. There is an old saying about the wind versus the golf ball. Tee it lower and swing slower. I play the Prov1, last generation and sometimes use my 3 wood off the tee, because I hit it lower with a slight draw and that helps in windy conditions. Downwind, I just tee it high and let it fly. Good for the ego. Bottom line, I DO NOT like wind. I have enough problems controlling my ball on a normal day.
  5. I've compared 2021 Pro V1 to both the new and previous Pro V1x pretty extensively. I keep seeing the same thing. The new Pro V1 is noticeably less affected by the wind than Pro V1x. I don't recall noticing that as much with the older Pro V1 versions.

Honestly, into a cool headwind a 9-iron with Pro V1x goes about the same distance as a PW with Pro V1.

Most of the wind adjustments I've had to make with Pro V1x in the past I can cut in half since switching to 2021 Pro V1. And for light 5-10mph breezes I pretty much can ignore the wind adjustments entirely.

Of course wind performance isn't the most important thing in the world. If I didn't like the 2021 Pro V1 better overall than the Pro V1x I've been playing I wouldn't switch just because of the wind thing. But it's a big bonus.
  6. Had played pro1x previous generation got a sleeve of these new Prov1 balls played 1 round with them then proceeded to buy a doz what a great ball, great around the greens and in the wind. Truly a awesome ball

Got a white box of Prov1x's. Played them for the first ti e in the wind, most stable in the wind of all generations. Great ball.

I guess its personal preference. I switched to the ProV1x last year because I like getting a little more spin around the green and higher spin in general with the irons. I played them on my Bandon trip last year after making the official change and really liked the performance in the wind, especially with the driver. I had experimented with the ProV1 and X all summer, was fun hitting both balls from the same spot to see the difference.

I think both are good in the wind. IMO, just comes down to the flight/spin characteristics you want.
  9. I plan to play both the Pro V1 and the X this season. I have played the X for years. I am looking for a softer feel off the irons as I am back to forged irons after many years.
