Getting Properly "Fit" For Your Titleist Golf Balls

  1. So you probably as a member of this community like myself done all the research about the new Titleist Golf Balls. After testing all of them on and around the course in Florida, Texas and Arizona I determined that I could probably play all the premium balls (ProV1, ProV1x, ProV1x Left Dash, and AVX) equally well but which one was best for my game...so I called upon the ball team at Titleist to assist. After listening to the ball team on the interactive zoom call and doing a follow up one on one consultation via zoom I had an even stronger knowledge about the balls but I was not closer on making a decision on playing only one ball since they play well. So, after some help from Titleist, I was able to schedule a fitting in Arizona with one of the ball team members that was coincidently already doing some fittings with others.

It was very interesting as I went through the deep fitting (hitting virtually all the clubs in my bag) and examining the numbers. Interesting enough, my original evaluation was correct in the sense that all the balls worked in one or more areas of my game however in terms of spin, peak height of shots, feel and flight of balls. I was surprised the ProV1x (not the ProV1x Left Dash which I have been primarily playing) was the ball for me, the numbers and comparing shots proved it.

The point of the post is that if you have done your research and think you have found the ball for you, having a fitting on a basic or in depth level is worth your time....it has given me some new confidence and with the new ball sale promotion starting later in March I can stock up on the best ball for my game!

    Cheers, Chris

Couldn't agree more. Trying out both the V and the X at Bandon, my gut feeling was that the X was better in the short game (...when struck well...). But it was close and would prefer both over the AVX. I did a ball fitting and driver and longer clubs did not have a distinct preference. But in the short irons and wedges, I was getting more spin with the X. The carry distances were basically even but the X was stopping 3-4 yards shorter. That's the difference between putting or chipping from behind the green. That will allow me to judge the distance closer to the center rather than the front of the green. Coming up a little short should put the ball on the front of the green rather than off the front of the green.

Now to get a chance to try this someplace where the ground isn't still white.

Great write up Chris. Looks like it was a tremendous experience

I too went through the virtual ball fitting---with Luke, it was a great conversation--I'm currently an X player, and he feels that's suited to me nicely, that I should also try the Left Dash. So that's what he sent me to try.

As soon as I'm fully recovered and healthy enough to get back on the course, I'll be comparing the two balls.

I did the virtual fitting and like you Chris came away with more information then I had before & the ball selection was my current ball I play. Pro V1 but now it's with full confidence it is the right ball for me.

    Great post,
