  1. I’m certain of the age of the more recent balls here, having started playing late 80s/early 90s, but can any of you help date the two older Acushnet Titleist balls please?

When I was 11 & 12 years old I was advertising myself as a caddie at a 9 hole country club in Pleasant Hills, CA. in 1968. My family didn't have much money and my dad joined the club and made one monthly payment before dropping it (probably didn't realize that monthly payment thing was EVERY month). I just kept showing up every few days, and didn't get many takers so spent several afternoons either working on my swing with an old Northwestern 4 iron (only club I owned until I was 18 years old) or walking through the murky pond trying to feel for golf balls with my feet before plunging in for the catch. Next trip to the club I would bring the balls and try to sell them to golfers, and I remember the Spaldings, MacGregors, Dunlops, but the Acushnet was one of the favorites. Now 52 years later and I still hang out at golf courses, and still working on my swing. Only now I have a full bag of clubs and about a dozen extras at home. And they're all Titleist. Wish I had kept a few of those old balls.

Those old balls were treasures. I don't think I ever had 2 of the same brand in my bag most times as a teenager. I remember picking mine out of a fish bowl full of 25 cent X out balls, wishing I could afford the newer Titleist balls, (only sold in Pro Shops then). Acushnet Club Specials were my go to's. if I had a few bucks. If I found a Titleist on the course, that was for putting only.

Yep, I'm around the same age as you, and I remember all of those balls, and as far as Acushnet goes, how about the "Acushnet Club Special"? Loved those as a kid
