  1. I have gone through three dozen AVX balls and like the feel of them. The lower flight suits me as I have a tendency to get it up too high at times. I wonder how the Tour Speed compares? Is it the same compression as Tour Soft, just with a urethane cover? What is the flight characteristics compared to AVX?

Titleist built a whole new production line just for the cast urethane Tour Speed. ...Maybe they are looking to expand lower cost urethane covers to supplement/replace some of the ionomer balls?

I compared the AVX to the Tour Speed on approach shots. I found the Speed to have a steeper landing angle and held greens better as a result. I don't know if long irons/driver will launch higher than the AVX but memory serves me that neither had an advantage on longer shots. I needed the longer roll with mid- to long-irons that the AVX gave me over the 2017 V. But as my short game got a little better, I needed better hold on the greens. Lacking a yellow option in the Speed is an issue for me.

Best for you to get some of both and work your way from green to tee.
  3. Thanks for the reply, I’ll buy some once we’re out of lockdown

Less spin on short shots to the greens. AVX gets its lower flight from the shallower dimples. Tour Speed gets its lower flight from less spin due to core and cover material. Get a sleeve and give them a try as everyone has their own playing characteristics that matter most to them.

Another big difference is Tour Seed is a lower price point...
  6. I noticed that it is not as durable as the AVX or ProV. After one round, the TS was in pretty bad shape.

It has a softer cover and that could be the reason.
