Virtual Fitting - Follow Up Questions. V or X?!

    Hi Team Titleist! Yesterday morning I did the virtual ball fitting and was BLOWN away. It was a great process and super thankful to Titleist for doing it at $0. We went with the X because I stated that I would like the ball to stop more around the greens. I currently play the ChromeSoft or Tour Soft because I read once that a soft ball is better for higher handicaps - found out on the fitting that is not true!

    I picked up a sleeve today to go hit around in a simulator (that unfortunately did not save any of my data). To make a long story short, I pretty much only hit the Pro V1 and the Pro V1x today. Both new balls right out of the package. The Pro V1x was extremely clicky (in a bad way) and I felt like all iron shots were bladed, even though they werent and ended up OKAY. The downside really came when hitting driver. With the X, the ball was just ballooning in the air (4000 - 4200 spin) and going noticeably shorter. Obviously that could be my swing, but the ball's results were pretty consistent.

    Overall, I liked the feel and performance off the tee of the Pro V1 (still a lot of spin at 3000-3500) way more than the Pro V1x. While putting, I couldn't tell a difference.

    Below is my average data from a recent trackman session with a random ball in the bay. I don't remember what it was, but know it was not a Titleist so we can rule out if it was a V or X.

    My question is, can I get away with playing the Pro V1 instead of the X? I really want to focus on playing one ball moving forward.

    54 Degree Wedge - 68 Feet - 7880 RPM Spin

    9 Iron - 72 Feet Height - 6970 RPM Spin

    7 Iron - 69 Feet - 5800 RPM Spin

    3 Wood (Didn't keep any driver data) - 45 Height - 3820 Height

    Much like deciding between a T300 or T200 iron, your ball selection can be personal as well. If you are more comfortable with the sound of the V, go for it. Distance-wise, they won't vary enough for you to notice. We aren't attuned to subtle differences as TW or even which V Jason Duffner prefers for his "window". You may want to retry with the versions being released at the PGA show in January. The TT Invitational allowed us to sample "from the white boxes". My prior experience with the X has been similar to yours. However, the click off the putter face was indistinguishable with the 2021 balls, and on course, the feel was very similar. I'm going to have to use a ball fitting with a Trackman to make a final choice. I couldn't narrow it down based on 1 round. I currently use the V.

    What "MySpy" has found is that compression does correlate with overall distance. Tour compressions like the Pro-V's will simply go further on all shots at any swing speed than any ball with Soft in the name. It still comes down to scoring. Just don't think from other ads you should be playing a softer ball. Whichever ball gets in the hole first is the right one.

    I have been using the Prov1 for years, and have recently starting practicing with the Prov1x on the putting green and on chipping/pitching. I like the feel off the putter and the higher spin around the greens.

    I played today and hit both the Prov1 and Prov1x to see the differences (the 2019 version as I am not enough of a VIP to get my hands on the 2021 version lol). I did note the firmer feel of the Prov1x compared to the Prov1 on full shots. It wasn't that much different in the irons, especially the short irons. But the sound and feel off the driver and hybrid was very different- much harder with the Prov1x. It doesn't bother me that much so I think I will get use to it as I switch to the Prov1x. I really like the difference in the short game aspects, including the 50-75 yard wedges shots where I got more spin.

    I did not notice much of a difference in launch but it was a windy day so I was trying to flight the ball a little lower so that is probably why there was not much difference in iron shots. I did notice a higher launch on a couple of drives with the Prov1x.

    I am an 8 handicap and clubhead speed with the driver is 110-112 mph.
