    Hey guys,

    For Christmas I'm getting a dozen of each and was wondering what you guys think are the best way to test which ball will be the right fit for me and my game.

    I think getting fit is a great idea when it comes to seeing the numbers, but in my opinion, it comes down to what the ball will do on the course. I'm curious as to which way you guys have found to be the best way to test this on the golf course. I don't have the luxury of taking a ball of each and hitting a drive, approach shot, around the green, and putting to really test out which I would like best.

    Do you guys think the best way is to just play one round of each instead of switching throughout the round?

    Brandon..I would play a round with each..that way you can see what each ball will do as you play..just like you said..testing under game conditions..good luck

    You can start by understanding the characteristics of each ball and how they might react to your game. You might have to add that to your analysis if you play each of the three under different conditions. It’s always a give-and-take over feel, distance, spin so you will need to decide which helps you the most. Once you decide, my suggestion is that you stick to that same ball in order to build consistency. Good luck and have fun.

    If you're really interested in finding which one is best for you, play a different one on each hole. The feedback is fresh instead of thinking back to what you used the day before. Try different on different types of holes.....par 3, par 5, approach over water, out of rough, everything.

    If you have the luxury to do so when the course is quiet.. play all 3 on each hole for every shot, hit all 3 from the same spot with the same club each time with the balls in the same order.

    After 9 or 18 holes you'll have hit a wide variety of shots with most of the clubs in your bag and then can decide which ball was the perfect fit for you. Good luck with them.

    Thanks everybody for the responses. I’m really intrigued by the ProV1X an the added spin it will create.

    With the weather we are having my home course is seeing quite a bit of traffic, I’m going to give these a test here as soon as possible.

    Does anybody know why you cant order the ProV1X yellow with your own play #? Thanks

    Apparently it is a numbers game. The numbers other than 1-2-3-4 are embossed in mass and set aside. Neither AVX ball or any non-urethane offers the custom #, other than high number sets in Velocity. I'm hoping as Titleist gets better usage numbers for urethane balls in yellow they will extend the custom numbers to more lines. And even more hopeful they will do this in the almost annual March 4-4-3 sale!

    You could watch some reviews of each ball and see what to expect. Then see if you get the same type of ball flight/spin with each ball.

    One ball per hole to get an idea of the performance of each.

    Do you have a practice area?

    You can. I just went to the top of this site to balls, and clicked on Prov1x and it took me to a page which featured how to order and customize Prov1x and you can customize you own numbers on yellow balls. Give it a try. and please let us all know how it works. Cheers.....

    Definitely get out on a track and try and pick a quiet time, Maybe a par 3 and hit 4/5 of each then pick a par 4 with a long iron, same again with driver etc etc
