  1. I'm guessing it's going to be cold and wet this winter in the UK.

What ball do you like to game through the winter?

Do you carry on with the same or do you go softer with more distance?

You don't need stopping power when it's wet so a high spinning ball isn't needed.

The TruFeel ball seems to be a great ball for the winter it goes further and feels great off every club for me.

    What you gaming?

Personal preference. Some people prefer to use the same ball year round, while others prefer to swap out to something different. There is no wrong answer.

Last year, Rick V. posted this great post about golf balls and cold weather. It's a good read.

  5. I play year around in all conditions. I wont play my normal ProV1 below 55-60 degrees as I feel I dont get all the ball has to offer. I go with a softer ball as it will still have feel to it.
Living in a wet area Im not playing a $4 golf ball only to lose them to plugging or lawn grass when wet and soggy.

A ProV1 seems to get better the hotter it gets.

AVX performs better for me than any ball I've ever played in winter. I use Pro Vs and AVX all year, but tend to play AVX more in the winter. Better distance. Cuts through the wind. Lower ball flight. Runs out further.
  7. I like to play the pro v1x year round. My mindset is to eliminate as many variables as possible and playing the same ball throughout the year helps in that.
  8. Tested these side by side today. The lower flight of the avx was brilliant in the awful UK weather.

With the wet greens it was impossible to compare spin as both balls stopped dead.

The toursoft is a long ball and on the hole edged the avx on distance for me. This could be because of the softer compression and maybe suited my swing speed better not sure.

  9. I personally like to keep my ball the same and stick with the Pro v1 so I can have consistent practice and flight. It also helps to use the same ball so I don’t have to adjust to a different going into the summer.

I play the ProV1 year round in all conditions and temperatures. Make adjustments to yardages and trajectory based on the various conditions.

I still have some Titleist DT TruSoft balls that I’m using this winter. When those run out, I’ll go to the new TruFeel balls.
In the summer, I play Pro V1x.

I use the same balls prov1x but already used ones , never new ones , cause after all winter golf is just practice golf
  17. Chalk up another AVX winter ball user - normally play the V1

I have been using some yellow TruFeel balls. They have been preforming very well in the Ohio cold. Normally would play the ProV1, but no use playing them when the greens may be partially frozen.
I'll play if its 35 and not too windy.

I use the Pro V1, but usually a beat up one that I am not worried about losing...

I stay with the same ball. Pro V1. I like to switch to the yellow though for the winter. I find it easier to pick up off the tee.

I went to a fitting and received a 2 pack of AVX balls. This might very well be the best advancement on a golf ball in a very long time. I received those balls about a month ago and still have one left. I play 3 times a week. This ball flat out flies and cuts through the wind like a hot knife through butter. Like probably everyone else, I lose distance in the cold and have to adjust. With this ball I actually have gained distance. On these firm and fast Pinehurst greens (including #2), the AVX hits and stops. I usually play a ProV1x but I may not go back when it warms up. I used to do Titleist testing reviews for their new balls but while I was testing, nothing of this quality came my way. My next time out, I will try it side by side with an x for a more accurate comparison. I already suspect what that comparison will show.
