Came across this ball in a bunker during a round last week at a local CC. Hadn't seen an Acushnet DT in quite a while and am trying to recall the time frame that this ball was available. Can anyone help me out?

    Not 100% positive, but I think it's mid 70s (maybe 74 or 75).

Hi guys! I remember the balls ... they were somewhat prevalent when I was a kid ...back in the 1970's. I'm not sure what "vintage" these may be though.

What has always struck me is where do these golfers get these balls and why play them now? I recently came across a 1980's/early 1990's Titleist Balata ball! I used to play them when I was younger ... I will never forget how soft they were and if you mis-hit them, wow ... left a big smile across the cover and a bump to go with it!

Might be one you lost when you started playing this crazy game. What were you doing in a bunker in the first place, as straight as you hit the ball? Just kidding Ted. Again, it might that lost ball you have been looking for all these years?

Could not find the year on it on the internet, but did find on like it for sale for $25 on eBay. Might want to hang on to it.

As I recall, Barry B is right, I think those were available in about 1970 when I first started playing Acushnet balls. In any event, that was quite a find. Now if you play that ball remember that you can cut those old balls with a bad iron shot.

Anyone from Titleist want to weigh in on this one?
  10. I know this is an old post but I found one yesterday and googled it and ended up here
I have found a lot of old balls on my home course Treetops in northern Michigan. My take on how they end up on the course is either someone wants to pick up golf and grabs thier grandfather’s old bag or they buy an old bag that has balls in it in a yard sale either way they end up there. I’d like to think that they used to play the shoot out here and maybe Lee Trevino ..Ray Floyd or one of them shanked it into the woods makes for a better story
