Hi, I tested both this season to see which worked best for me and I went with the OG, Pro V. Although the X seemed a bit further off the tee, the OG was exactly what I was looking for in terms of short game performance. It feels very solid on tee shots and second shots yet soft and like throwing darts around the green.
I have tried all different brands and to be honest I was using a "lady" ball until I finally tried the Pro V. Now I see what all the hype was about and honestly I don't see myself using anything else until Titleist introduces a ball guaranteed to find the hole on your first putt!

My choice is the x. I like the slightly higher ball flight, and I can usually generate enough spin so the Pro V spinning more near the green is not an issue. BUT you can't go wrong with either. Grab a sleeve of each, and play them both switching ever couple holes and see which you like better. OR you can check the web site and find a ball fitting event near you and give that a try using the monitors etc. and see which performs better for your game.

I really like both golf balls and can't tell a lot of difference. The X does really have a higher ball flight. Still trying out both to see which I want to play. The great thing I like about Titleist is that I play #11 and only Titleist have that readily available and don't have to order and wait for ever. I just bought two boxes in Fairfax VA at the Golf Galaxy. They have a lot of different #'s in stock.

The #11 and other numbers in stores is just a promotional thing. After they're gone you'll have to order them

I like the pro v, I naturally have a high ball flight do the pro v allows me to slightly lower the flight when need be, they both feel a cut above the rest though!

I play both the V1 and the V1x and to be honest I do not see much difference in ball flight or spin around the green between the two. However, I do notice that the V1 is softer off of the putter whereas the V1X is more "clicky" and does feel a bit harder. My preference is the V1 for this reason only. That being said, try a sleeve of both and decide for yourself which one suits your game the best. You can't go wrong with either they are both excellent balls!

Real world there is only a subtle difference between the two, they are both fantastic. though I have always liked a softer ball, probably because I grew up playing balatas, I like the feel of the Pro V. However, I play the X simply because I get the desired trajectory and more distance off the tee . Hopefully the next generation will be even softer

The old Titleist balata's were a fantastic ball! Takes me back. No ball nowadays has anything like the feel around the greens as the balata.

After the golf season has all but finished I often get out the old persimmon and balata's that I have managed to find and go for a swish. Makes you relearn how to swing the club once again.

I remember the old Tour Prestige ball....that was my fave. Nowadays, I play the 1X in fair weather and the 1 in windy/inclement conditions.

I have recently went out and tested 4 different balls, V1, Vx, chrome soft and Xstar. I played each ball in different scenarios. The Pro V1 to me preformed the best in almost all places on the course.
I have played the V1 for as long as i can remember and for my game its the best all around golf ball with the Vx close 2nd. Just a little to hard for my taste.

I'm a very loyal pro v1x guy ever since the pro v1 star ball back in 2002. I think it's more of a matter of what fits your game and what give you confidence. Some high speed player use the prov1 like Adam Scott. But for me I like the x and it's firmer feel off the full swings and very very high spin off the wedges from 50 and in. I don't think it's about track man numbers or anything, but more about what you feel more comfortable with. Although someone with a under 95mph swing speed would get more benefit from the prov1 vs the x, after that I think it's about how you like your ball to feel, fly and react to your unique style of play

I am a single digit handicapper and I really can't tell much difference in the two balls. They are both good high quality golf balls. I buy and use them both. I play for enjoyment of the game. If I played for a million dollars a weekend I might worry about the difference, but...go to a ball fitter, really?
