    Hey Y'all,

I am curious about the shelf life of Titleist golf balls. I work at a golf club in Dallas, and find dozens of brand new Pro V's on a regular basis, so by now my golf ball collection is very large. Most of these balls have been hit once into the crap, and are still perfect, I have started bagging them up and storing them in my house, shag bags etc.

A friend of mine told me he thinks golf balls only last about 7 years before they start deteriorating internally and are useless. So the first part of my question is how long do Titleist Pro V1s last if they are stored in normal temperature controlled environments like a closet or garage.

Part two of my question is does having a bag of new balls inside the trunk of a car in the hot summer sun(100*+) effect the golf ball in any way? They are sometimes very hot to the touch when I pull them out to play.

    Thanks for any info everyone.

Keeping balls in the trunk of a car in Dallas in the summertime will definitely reduce the shelf life, even more than a couple of weeks in the water. Is your garage AC'd? Otherwise, it is closer to being like the trunk. There is not much reason for anyone to test balls that old to determine a deterioration line, but with material changes over release versions, they will definitely perform differently. Similar to someone's next ball to play is the last one they found.
