NXT Tour.....I used velocity and the tour, and the tour goes and goes and goes.....to me the velocity doesn't fly as far

Paul, I would use the Pro v1 for each shot. If you are worried about losing your ball on the tee shot, and want to play a less expensive ball, I understand. Most people step on the drives a little more in those type of events.

I would suggest playing 9 holes before the weekend. Take a sleeve of each ball you are thinking about and hit each one off of each tee. If you explain what you want to do in the pro shop they should not have an issue with it unless it is busy. I did that last year with the R&D balls that I received. It really opened my eyes as to the performance of the test ball. Personally, I like the Velocity when I am not playing the Pro v1. Let us know how your testing goes.

I would suggest the DT Solo! Nice and soft, and you can Crush them off the box! For the price its the best ball Titleist makes in my opinion....Love em!

Also, unless you have a professional swing speed, its hard to maximize the return of the pro-v line.....

Thanks for the reply. I just wanted to quickly jump in and help clarify the swing speed point here, as it is one we hear a lot. Keep in mind, a golf ball must perform for all golfers of all swing speeds on all shots, otherwise it won't perform for any golfer.

Remember, swing speed isn't a static number and we don't have just one swing speed that we use for every shot.

When you're out on a golf course you are playing a wide variety of golf shots during the round. SInce a golf ball only reacts to the force being applied, different shots require different swing speeds in order to execute them properly. 

So selecting a golf ball based on swing speed alone instead of overall performance throughout the bag, most likely won't lead you to finding the best golf ball for your game.

Paul, the NXT Tour will give you the feel and spin that the Velocity won't. When I golf, I put two of my Prov1x balls in my right pocket, and couple NXT Tour balls in my left. Any hole that smells trouble off the tee, I will sometimes use the NXT off the tee. It's a legit ball. The Velocity will give you great distance, but has almost no short iron spin, and has a much harder feel.

You realize that in match or tournament play swapping ball types is against the rules. In these circumstances you may be better served by using an older ProV1x than your brand new game balls.

I would recommend the NXT over the Velocity, even though you really can't go wrong with any Titleist golf ball.  I want to thank Mike for the clarification on swing speeds...it drives me nutts to hear all the (brand x) commercials about swing speeds.  I guess that is the best strategy they could come up with since Titleist is a much better ball.

I bought a sleeve of NXT Tour and Velocity after my round this morning, I have enough time to get a round in before the tournament tomorrow (it is a best ball, so I am allowed to play before hand) and I'm going to alternate golf balls for each hole, I have a good idea where my drives normally go, so that will tell me if it's worthwhile changing balls off the tee.

Paul, for pure driver distance, the NXT Tour is the ball. I holds the green, just not as well as the ProV1 series. Personally, too many people pick their golf ball based upon the driver performance when, it seems you will score better if you select a ball on how well it performs in the short game area. IMHO.

I tried both Velocity and NXT Tour before the tourney today, they both performed great off the tee.  I ended up just putting them both in the cart along with the ProV1 and just grabbing any one of them for the tee shot.  As usual the Pro V1 performed awesome around the greens. 

The tournament got called due to weather (lightening) so our team finished 5 holes shy of a full round.   We did tie for 2nd, but the other team played more holes so we ended up with a 3rd.   all in all, a lot of fun for a great cause :)

I like the NXT my drives are 235-245 yards and my short game is good with the Titleist NXT, my putts are like smart bombs, the ball comes off my putter sharp and clean and I am hitting the cup!
