I have the opportunity to get fit by a club I am a part of. They usually hold Titleist days and have a rep come out and do fittings, but they won't be out for a few months. My question is do I wait on the Titleist rep to come out or do I just go ahead and get a fitting? The club I am apert of continuously win Golf Digest Best Clubfitter awards and they also use the same tools the Titleist rep would use. Would I gain anything from waiting on a Titleist rep to come out?

The Titleist fitter probably has a more extensive set of shafts that they will bring with them. Your local club would just have the basic kit but that might be all you need. If they do their fittings free of charge, maybe start with them and if you are still a little unsure, get a second fitting from the Titleist rep.

That was what got me thinking on just waiting for a Titleist Fitter. I may not need other than standard options, but it would be nice to know I had access if I did. I will probably just wait for the Titleist Fitter to schedule a day just to make sure and have no doubt. Thank you all for your responses.

I use fittings to gain information about clubs, shafts and my swing. Usually letting a fitter (Titleist or other) try different products while providing them your feedback might open up new possibilities you and/or other fitters hadn't considered before. Example - just had a fitter discover my previous lie angle was off because he saw how I was delivering the club (was 2* upright, now 2* flat).

Having said that and playing a full bag of Titleist for 10+ years, I won't go to a fitting from a different brand - only a neutral fitter that has Titleist products available.

So I'd say, if the interim fitting is free or low cost, give it a whirl and see what happens. Good luck on your journey to better!

I got fit for the first time at a 3rd party club champion and it was all good. I normally go to the Sea Island performance center but didn’t have time this year.

I was fit at a national chain (CC). Wholly unimpressed and wish I waited for a Titleist fitting opportunity in my area!

What didn’t you like about them? I have my first ever fitting with them scheduled for next week.

Here is a link that might be of interest regarding CC and their pricing.

The complaints from reliable sources in our area is that they like upgrade to higher priced shafts that are not necessary and upcharge on shafts that are stock. You know how the word travels in the golf community. May not be the case in all stores. Some people really like them. Again, like everything in life, it is about choices.
