I have always been a very strong 3 wood player, and can hit it 265 from the deck, but put the driver in my hands and all bets are off. When it's on, I can hit it long, but there is no consistency, so no confidence. I get streaky where I can't miss for two or three weeks, then I fall back into hooks and blocks. Currently I play the 909D2 9.5 with a Claymore F5 shaft (company is Aerotech) I am considering changing to the 910 D3 (I like the look of the smaller head, and I own both the 909 F2 and F3, and I leave the F2 in my trunk.) I have two questions. 1) Is it possible the lie on the 3 wood is part of the issue as it is the flatest lie of all clubs, and 2) Can anyone tell me where the 909D2 9.5 falls on the matrix of the new D10 9.5, as when I have tried it out with the Diamana Ahina shaft, I hit the ball well on the launch monitor in the standard right hand setting, with lower spin (average 2200 RPM), approx 9.5 degree launch, average carry of 270, and a soft draw back into the centre of the fairway.

My advice is get custom fit by a certified titleist fitter.  I am a 5 handicap and have always played low degree drivers.  My favourite (until now) was a competitive brand driver - 8 degree.  I recently was in the market for a full bag of titleist and had in mind an 8.5 degree 910 D3 until I met my Titleist certified fitter.  He set me up with what I wanted, then said try my set up and I'll get you more distance.  I obliged and he didn't tell me what he did differently but I could not believe what I was seeing.  A drive that was a thing a beauty, hang time that was endless and a perfect draw.  When he told me it was a 10.5 degree D2 with the stiffest shaft and highest kick point he could put on I couldn't believe it.  Needless to say, I 've put it in the bag and it is money in the bank.
