For those of you who did not witness it, 48 year old Richard Bland won the British Masters at the Belfry on Saturday.
Why does that matter ????
Well - he first turned pro in 1996 just over 25 years ago. He lost his standing on the European Tour a few times, but fought his way back through the qualifying tours. After 25 years of trying, and 478 tournaments, he birdied the 18th hole to hold the club house lead at 13 under. It was not enough for the win as someone tied him and off they went into a play-off. I am not sure how, but he held his nerves together to sink a three footer to win for his very first time on the European Tour ! So great to see someone keep plugging away at his passion and finally get rewarded :) Great to see him win and awesome to have another Titleist player in the winners circle...
