Our course (Vespra Hills) in Barrie hosted a Pepsi ? Titleist Junior Tour tournament today and I had the privilege of volunteering during the event. My job today was keeping score for a foursome of Under 13 Girls for 9 holes. It was my first time performing this task and my first time watching four young ladies in this age group participate in a tournament venue. Over all, the experience was amazing :) These young ladies are the future of golf in Ontario and it was an honour to be able to help them get through the tournament experience. As a scorer my job was to help out with explaining the rules when taking a drop from a hazard making sure they understood all their options, help point out some basic etiquette around the greens, and of course keep score.
Many thanks to Titleist for being a co-sponsor for the Pepsi / Titleist Junior Tour.
We had 92 Juniors from 18 to 9 years of age participating today, and all the kids I saw were having a great time and demonstrating a great attitude out there. I also saw some awesome talent as well. The future is in good hands thanks to sponsors like Titleist taking an interest in the Junior Program.
If you are a member at a course and they are hosting an event like this, I highly recommend you volunteer and spend a day helping mentor these great kids. I know I got as much out of the experience as the kids did !!!!!
