Like Pat, I now have replaced all my "Non-Titleist" clubs in my bag !!! The day after my fitting on May 3, I took my spec sheet to my Club Pro and he placed the order for my new SM6 Wedges, and my 816 Hybrid. The Hybrid arrived yesterday and I put it into play today for my Wednesday match with my pals. I purchased the 816 to take the place of my 3 iron as I was finding it difficult to hit it purely with consistency. I needed that shot today on 3 occasions, and it performed as expected. One birdie and two pars resulted from those instances so I would say Chris did a great job on the fitting process. (Not that I had any doubts.) When we got to the club house after finishing our round, the staff were all excited to present me with the second delivery which contained my three new SM6 Vokey Design wedges. A 50, 54, and 58 set. I have them home and will install my grips this evening. Tomorrow they get to go out and play :) I am now running out of excuses ! If the handicap does not drop or at least hold level, I do not think I have anything else to blame other than me. I think I can still use the excuse that they are new to the bag and it will take a bit of time to get used to them, however that excuse won't last long :-)

    Congratulations Darius! Wedges look good!

You mentioned that you were going to put the grips on at home -- did you order them with the grips uninstalled for any particular reason? Also, did you opt for any customization of the wedges?

New additions to the bag = added incentive to get out and play/practice! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences with the wedges!

    Congrats again Darius!

Dino - I ordered the wedges with the grips "in-box". My preferred grip is the Golf Pride CP2 Jumbo and from what I was given to understand, Titleist does not carry the jumbo size. Not an issue however, as the CP2 is a very popular grip and I will give them to my Club Pro for when he does re-gripping for other members. It will help his bottom line and I get the grips I prefer so a win - win :) Regarding any customization, all three were ordered with a 1/2" added to the shaft, and with each wedge tipped up 2 degrees to match my irons.
Looking forward to getting them into play today for my Men's Night 9 holes and then again tomorrow when I get out for another 18. Feedback forthcoming.

Well - I have 27 holes under my belt with the new kids. I am still working on the Hybrid to gain the consistency for line, however putting it in place of the 3 iron has certainly eliminated the fat or thin shots and that was exactly why I made the change. I am sure a short time on the range will give me the confidence to swing more smoothly and select the proper ball position so I can better predict if I will be hitting a slight fade or draw.
As for the wedges - Chris was absolutely bang on with the selection during the fitting !!!! On Thursday evening during our Men's night 9, I got up and down 3 times to save par, and once to save a bogey to shoot 1 over and take second place to a great player who shot 33. Hey - I did not expect the clubs were going to make me a sub-par player :)
I played 18 on Friday, and got to use the wedges from 112yds, 97 yds, 81 yds, and a variety of shorter chips and pitches. With each shot I had a completely new found level of confidence and managed to execute some great shots. Most often finding myself within 6 to 8 feet of the hole giving me a chance to convert the par. Before I got the new wedges, I would constantly use the same wedge ( a 52 degree ) and would have to figure out how much to open it, or hood it to manufacture the shot. Too much thinking about ball position and whether I had it open enough or hooded enough to make the shot and therefore more often than not I would chunk or skull. With the new wedges it is more a matter of selecting the right wedge then setting up a little open with hands forward and take a confident swing through the ball. Even my playing partners were impressed with how the ball would check up and roll out to the right distance. They have played with me for many years now, and the change is clearly obvious to them. I have a feeling they will be buying the fries after the round more often this year :)

Thank you to Titleist and particularly Chris for a great fitting !!!
You did not turn me into a pro, but with the right tools in my hand, my scores are improving and my confidence levels are way up :)
