    I currently have the 712 CB's but hit the 714 AP2's and really like them. One of the biggest reasons I want the AP2's is for the Gap wedge. I've never liked a gap wedge that deosn't fit the set.

    My question is more about lie angle. My fitting suggested i should be as much as 4* or more upright. My naturally ball path is a draw and miss is a hook. Would you suggest going with correct measurements and work on the swing or go less upright to help aid the misses?

    Hi Jake,

    If you are happy with the flight of your current irons, I would duplicate the lie angle of your 712 CBs.

    4 degrees upright may not be favorable to your left miss.  However, if you hit your target during the fitting at 4 up, then that is all that matters!  Lie angle can be changed at any time.

    Changing the lie angle to properly fit your swing is from my experience is important and will indeed help ensure a cleaner golf shot. When I was fit for my irons, the fitter was adamant that lie angle is just as important as the proper length of the shaft etc...

    I was informed that if the club was too flat I would tend to push or slice the ball, and if it was too upright I would pull or hook the ball. Since I got my AP1's with a 2 degree upright lie angle adjustment I have in fact been hitting my shots much straighter on average.

    As for your AP2's, the Titleist options book notes that they can be bent from -2 to +4 degrees for the lie angle, so that would certainly be the max. You can check that out on the following link.

    As for working on your swing - I think we are all constantly working on our swing :) That is one of those things that we can do and does not necessarily cost much. Although our constant tweaking of stance, shoulder turn, grip pressure, swing path, take away, follow through, etc... does add to our frustration in our never ending pursuit of "IT".
