    Hi TT,

Today I took my irons to the range in the Mississauga area and after a couple of swings the paint chipped off my 9 iron. I have not used these much due to our horrible weather so this really sucks.

What can I do about it? I bought these from carls Golfland in Michigan. I obviously want then repaired because the set is very expensive as all know and this is unacceptable. Please advise me as to what my next steps should be. I hope we can fix them in the area because driving to Michigan and leaving then is not really an option.

    Thanks,

    Ovi

I have the same issue, also with my 9 iron. What is the next step to get this fix? Thanks

This is part of the playing process IMHO, paint comes off and are "scars of battle" which I personally like.  It's a simple DIY fix if you have a black paint pen and a little acetone and a rag from a t-shirt.

Simply fill the number with the paint pen, let dry.... then take the rag and place a little acetone on it and stretch the rag over your fore finger and lay the finger so it runs parallel to the bounce of the club while using one continuous swipe from heel to toe, then let dry again for a couple of seconds and voila.

It will eventually happen again and again unless you remove all the paint from the numbers and then scratch coat the embossed interior part of the number with sandpaper or something similar (and you can place masking tape around the number so you don't scratch the bounce portion of the club with the sandpaper).  This will give the paint something to hold on to, then fill and wipe as per the aforementioned process.

The other solution would be for Titleist to place the number on the toe portion of the club during the manufacturing process.... similar to some of the Vokey Wedges.

We're sorry to hear!  This can happen from time to time.
Please have the Titleist Authorized Retailer of your choosing send the entire iron set (not just the 9 iron) to us for inspection.  Ideally via the same Titleist Authorized Retailer that you purchased the set from.  If our Returns Team determines that they are indeed defective, then the set will be replaced.

This is just a natural occurrence from playing. It would be nice if this never happened but I'm not sure this could be preventable. I'm very particular about my clubs, I also have AP2 714s, and will refresh my club's numbers often. I typically use model paint and a fine brush. I think there are several methods to use that can be found at craft stores. Most importantly, it is easy to do and keeps your clubs looking very new.

I picked up my set at golftown (new) and the paint was already chipped on my 9 iron
