  1. Currently playing with AP1 (second generation), 8 handicap. Wondering is it advisable to split the iron set with W-7 AP2 and 8-4 AP2 Any feedback is appreciated

I'm thinking of doing the same. I tried both 712 APs at Eagle's Nest. Asked Chad at the fitting centre and he said it was cool, but I'm not sure if that means I'll need to get fit for each part of the set separately (ie different shafts), or if the transition club of the AP2 will have to be bend 1deg strong (AP2 lofts are weaker). New AP1 is super forgiving so if you're not planning on shaping your longer irons why not.

    Hello Imi H,

    Do you mean AP1 4-7 and AP2 8-W?

Either way, many players both amateur and professional choose to blend their sets.  If you're looking for a little more forgiveness in your long irons, the AP1's should assist on off centre hits.  We've adjusted the angle of the top line on the new 712 AP1 (Available Mid November) to appear thinner and thus more attractive at address.  With a deeper cavity and larger sole, the AP1's should also increase your trajectory on the long irons vs AP2's.

You're local golf shop or Golf Town can place a custom order for you that includes a blended set. Generally, the irons would be shipped in 7-10 business days.

If you have any additional questions please don't hesitate to let us know.

  4. Thanks Mitch! Yes I mean mean AP1 4-7 and AP2 8-W I like the stock steel shaft of AP1 as it has decent trajectory and weight, any comments or feedback if I use the same shaft and be consistent with AP2 8-W? am I compromising performance of AP2? Thanks, Imi

It is usually recommended to keep the shaft consistent throughout the blended set...especially if you're already comfortable with the current Nippon stock shaft in the 710 AP1's.  That shaft can still be ordered custom with the new 712 AP1's if you prefer to remain in that shaft (no upcharge).

The next step will be to play with the lofts to keep them consistent throughout the entire set.   We would strongly suggest getting fit for your irons at a Titleist Authorized Fitter.  I'd be happy to recommend the nearest fitter to your location, however, your approximate location is not included in your profile info.  Please visit http://www.fittingworks.com/FindaFitter.aspx?Selected_country=CA&submit.x=56&submit.y=2&tab=5 to find a Titleist Authorized fitter nearest you.

If you have any more questions please let us know.
